Jesus, Our Guarantee Of A Better Hope Through His Better Covenant

Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne:

For, on the one hand, there is a setting aside of a former commandment because of it’s weakness and uselessness (for the law made nothing perfect), and on the other hand there is a bringing in of a better hope, through which we draw near to God. And inasmuch as it was not without an oath (for they indeed became priests without an oath, but He with an oath through the One who said to Him, “The Lord has sworn and will not change His mind, ‘You are a priest forever’”); so much the more also Jesus has become the guarantee of a better covenant

(Hebrews 7:18-22, Psalm 110:4)

Jesus, our high “priest forever,” is, Himself, “The guarantee of a better covenant” to us.

Jesus died to give us this “better covenant.” He shed His perfect “new covenant in My blood” (Luke 22:20) and has risen from the dead in order to give us this “better covenant.” Jesus, as our “high priest,” entered heaven to give us this “better covenant,” “through His own blood, He entered the holy place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption” (Hebrews 9:12).

Everything we have in Jesus Christ is solely because of His “better” New Covenant. Through His “better covenant” we have been given “eternal redemption.” The “better covenant” of Jesus has most truly and wonderfully given us “a better hope.”

The old covenant could not do any of this for us. The old covenant expressed the righteousness of God through a series of commandments which contained blessings earned for obedience and curses earned for failure. There certainly was no “eternal redemption” possible for anyone under these circumstances.

But because Jesus Christ has fulfilled the “oath” of Psalm 110 and has become both our “Lord” and “priest forever,” through His Own blood, bringing us His new and “better covenant,” we indeed have experienced this “better hope.”

Bless your Lord today for His New Covenant. Come into the full light of your own “better hope” through Jesus’ “better covenant” of which He, Himself, is your “guarantee.” Thank Him. Minister to your High Priest with praise in His presence today. Hallelujah!
