Knowing The Lord Through Taking The Lower Seat So He May Lift Us Up

Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne:

Knowing The Lord Through Taking The Lower Seat So He May Lift Us Up

“Let us know, let us press on to know the Lord”

Hosea 6:3

Bless the Lord, beloved of our Father, for this awesome invitation and exhortation God graciously has given us, to “know, let us press on to know the Lord.” To know our Lord is such a daily blessing and fellowship of life for us, and to press on to know our Lord shows us that we are always moving forward and growing in the knowledge of our great God and Savior!

Two days ago I shared with you regarding pressing on by pressing in and yesterday I wrote about pressing on by pressing up, as God’s New Covenant kingdom of priests, ever approaching His presence, that we might honor Him even as we know Him.

Today I would like to invite you to behold the beautiful way, or spiritual posture, in which God promises to lift us up, as we enter His presence.

It’s as simple as this - enter His presence humbly, taking the lower seat, and He will lift you up so you may be closer to Him. It’s as James, the brother of Jesus, wrote, “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you (4:8) and “Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you” (4:10).

Being a priest of God in His presence has absolutely nothing to do with pride. It has everything to do with humility.

Why do you think so many religious people know nothing of the priesthood and show little interest, even if they do hear of the priesthood or see it in Scripture. It’s all pride, pure and simple. People actually do not want to be priests. They presume they have more important things to be occupied with, so they deflect away from the holiest of calls from our God..

You have to humble yourself in the sight of God to see as He sees. God sees the priesthood as exactly what He purchased you to be, with His Own blood, and the true Christian who humbles their own proud heart before God will gladly see it and humbly receive it. Again, as Revelation clearly states the purpose of Jesus Christ, “You were slain, and purchased for God with Your blood men from every tribe and tongue and people and nation. You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God” (Revelation 5:9-10).

Christianity is stiff necked when it refuses to see the New Covenant of our salvation and our priesthood to God, for His honor and glory and Name’s sake.

So, here’s what our Lord and Savior simply taught, in Luke’s Gospel, about our humble approach to God in order for Him to lift us up closer to Him. “He began speaking a parable to the invited guests when He noticed how they had been picking out the places of honor at the table (Jesus had been invite to a dinner], saying to them,’When you are invited by someone to a wedding feast, do not take the place of honor, for someone more distinguished than you may have been invited by him, and he who invited you both will come and say to you, “Give your place to this man,” and then in disgrace you proceed to occupy the last place.’ But when you are invited, go and recline at the last place, so that when the one who has invited you comes, he may say to you, “Friend move up higher”; then you will have honor in the sight of all who are at the table with you. For everyone who exalts himself shall be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted’” (Jesus - Luke 14:7-11.)

Praise God brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ. We can see here that our Abba Father and Lord Jesus are blessed when They see us taking the lower seat, humbly, as we serve Him in this life and as we enter His Own presence as His priests. We are showing God how much we honor Him by always walking humbly in His sight, in light of the great gifts and the life He has given to us and has called us to in Himself. So, taking the lower seat, as a humble child of God, is always the best way for us to press on to know the Lord. It’s the best way to press on, press in, and press up, always “fixing our eyes upon Jesus” (Hebrews 12:2), our true God and Lord in Whom we have this grace-filled life abundant and eternal.

So, next time you enter God’s presence, don’t say, “It’s me Lord.” Instead enter humbly and say, “It’s You Lord. It’s all You!” Hallelujah!
