And The House Was Filled With The Fragrance Of The Perfume

Today’s Word of Encouragement from Wayne:

"They made Him a supper there, and Martha was serving; but Lazarus was one of those reclining at the table with Him. Mary then took a pound of very costly perfume of pure nard, and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped His feet with her hair, and the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume"

John 12: 2-3

Bless You Lord! Once more, in this beautiful account, we see Mary attentively at the feet of Jesus. Previously, in Luke’s Gospel, we saw Jesus encouraging Martha to choose "the good part, which shall not be taken away" (Luke 10: 42) even as her sister Mary had, who was "seated at the Lord’s feet, listening to His word" (Luke 10: 39). Now, just a few days before His death at Calvary, Mary was once again at Jesus’ feet, this time anointing the holy feet of her Lord Who had just raised her own brother, Lazarus, from the dead. Mary was ministering to her Lord, at His feet, "and the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume." Oh praise our Lord! When you and I minister to the Lord, humbly at His feet, in worship and devotion, our inner house, the temple of God within us, becomes "filled with the fragrance of the perfume," ministering and emanating life, love, and holy peace to us. Also, when brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ gather as the body of Christ to minister to the Lord, humbly at His feet, in worship and devotion, “the house” of God becomes "filled with the fragrance of the perfume."

Praise God. Yes, it is just as the apostle Paul declared, when he wrote of God, Who “manifests through us the sweet aroma of the knowledge of Him in every place” (2 Corinthians 2: 14). Mary blessed Martha and Lazarus with the scent of the holy anointing. You and I bless our inner temple when we minister to the Lord at His feet. You and I bless the body of Christ when we minister to the Lord, together, at His feet. "And the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume." Oh bless your Lord today by pouring out the anointing oil, of praise, at His feet. Hallelujah!
