One Thing I Have Asked From The Lord
Today's Word of Encouragement from Wayne:
"One thing I have asked from the Lord, that I shall seek; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord and to meditate in His temple"
Psalm 27: 4
This "one thing" that David asked from the Lord, which is now our blessed reality as priests of God, reminds me of the apostle Paul’s words in the New Testament, from His letter to the church at Philippi, when he wrote," I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord," further stating his desire "that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings" (Philippians 3: 8&10).
The single hearted desire, the "one thing" the true seeker of God wants, is more of God. David was king of Israel but he wanted more of God. He wanted to enter and remain, and to live, in the presence of God so He may behold God’s beauty and meditate in His temple. Paul put all things aside so he may pursue more of Christ. God’s will, for us to realize and bow to before Jesus Christ, is that "He Himself will come to have first place in everything." To the heart of a minister to the Lord, like David and Paul (see Acts 13:1-2), this is music to our ears. Yes Lord, more of You please!
May we occupy that inner room, the temple within us, living with You, beholding Your beauty, and meditating upon Your beauty in Your presence, that we might know You, love You, please You, and be filled with You. Beloved child of God, let this be the "one thing" that you ask for today, and then seek after that "one thing" in His presence. Hallelujah!
