Closer To The Feet Of Jesus

Today’s Word of Encouragement From Wayne:

"Now a certain man was sick, Lazarus of Bethany, the village of Mary and her sister Martha. It was the Mary who anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped His feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick"

John 11: 1-2

Praise God! Through Mary’s example in the Gospels, we see how listening at the feet of Jesus leads to participating in an anointing at the feet of Jesus, bless His Name! Luke’s Gospel tells us of the time when Jesus went to the house of Mary and Martha. Of Mary, Scripture says she was "seated at the Lord’s feet, listening to His word" (Luke 10: 39). Mary was as close to Jesus as she could get, humbly at His feet. When we sit at Jesus’ feet, to listen and to learn of Him, we actually learn to love being at the feet of Jesus, as Mary did.

Mary was as close to Jesus’ feet as she could get in Luke’s Gospel. But here, later on, in John’ Gospel, Mary got even closer to the feet of Jesus. "Mary who anointed the Lord with ointment and wiped His feet with her hair." Mary’s face was at Jesus’ feet. This was truly as close as she could get to the feet of her Savior. Her face was at His feet, in devotion, love, and adoration, as she "anointed the Lord." What about us? Because of the New Covenant that we have been born again into, through the blood of Jesus Christ, you and I are blessed now, as children of God, to realize that our Savior lives in us, "Christ in you, the hope of glory" (Colossians 1: 27)!

Yes, we are privileged with a special closeness with our Lord, to be as close as we can get. This is the same "good part" that Jesus declared to Mary and Martha (Luke 10: 42), and this good part can’t be taken away from us. Let us place our face at Jesus’ feet today, and let the anointing of God flow. Hallelujah!
