Following Jesus Christ: Being Where He Is
Today's Word of Encouragement from Wayne:
"If anyone serves Me, he must follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also"
John 12:26
"I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also"
John 14:3
God’s will is for us to be with Jesus, both here and now, and forever with Him, bless His holy name. Yesterday I shared our Savior’s words from John 17, where Jesus prayed to His Father, "I desire that they also, whom you have given Me, be with Me where I am, so that they may see My glory" (John 17:24).
I have been emphasizing these past few days that Jesus’ "desire" for us to be with Him and to see His glory is not only for a far off future time, but indeed this is God’s will, and reward, for us right now, individually and for His entire body, that "where I am, there My servant will be also," continually.
This certainly becomes, and is, the well understood and practiced reality for the Christian who has received their priesthood unto God. We are actively with Jesus, our High Priest, in the inner court of our being, "a temple of God" (1 Corinthians 3:16), as we minister to our Lord. In "ministering to the Lord" (Acts 13:2), we praise our God, for we are joyful to realize that, not only is this Jesus’ will for us, "where I am, there My servant will be also," but this is also our great, great blessing, to be in this state of constant, intimate, divine fellowship with our Savior and High Priest in His presence.
One of the biggest benefits, I have found, for us being with Jesus in our inner court, serving Him in Spirit, is that we profoundly want to remain with Jesus as we go into the outer court of this world, serving Him in Spirit.
I rejoice in John 12:26 and in John 14:3! I praise my God that He has prepared a place for us to be with Him forever, and I praise my God that He allows us to prepare a place for Him to be with us now, in the inner court of our being. His presence within us is His beautiful gift to us.
When we step into our inner court it is as if we have turned on the lights in this inner room and now we see the beauty of our Lord God and we are delighted to meet regularly with Him in this prepared place in our hearts. In this way we come to experience the truth of Jesus’ promise, "Lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age" Matthew 28:20.
Christ is in us right now so, where He is let us be also, with Him, in His presence, seeing His glory, realizing that His reward is with Him even as we are being with Him, now... and throughout all eternity.
Hallelujah!
