Today's Word Of Encouragement From Wayne:

“‘And the Lord, whom you seek, will suddenly come to His temple; and the messenger of the covenant, in whom you delight, behold, He is coming,’ says the Lord of hosts.”

Malachi 3:1

The Lord is coming to His temple!

The Messenger of the covenant is coming!

Hallelujah!

Beloved of God, as we have been so faithfully doing, let us blessedly now, once more, “consider Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession” (Hebrews 3:1).

Let us see Jesus, “the apostle” of Hebrews 3:1, as “the messenger” of Malachi 3:1, apostle and messenger meaning the same.

Let us consider Jesus, our “High Priest” of Hebrews 3:1, our “priest forever” of the word of the oath in Psalm 110:4, as “the Lord” of Malachi 3:1, Who “will suddenly come to His temple,” Jesus also being our “Lord” of Hebrews and Psalm 110:1 (also the word of the oath).

Let us behold Our Lord and High Priest coming, bringing a New Covenant to His temple, in order to make to make a new people, a new kingdom of priests, all becoming one in Himself.

A New Covenant was coming, a new law, and the Lord, the messenger of the covenant, was coming to HIS temple because, in this New Covenant, our Messiah, Jesus, would be both “Lord” and “priest forever” (Psalm 110:1,4). So it makes sense for temple and throne to become one finally in our God ,“ thus He will be a priest on His throne, and the counsel of peace will be between the two offices” (Zechariah 6:13). Oh blessed Hallelujah!

As we reach the end of the old testament, we have taken our time to carefully behold and glean from the rich and blessed history of ministering to the Lord within it’s pages. We have also seen God’s covenant promises to David and to the priesthood, that both would enter a permanently fulfilled state in our One Messiah, our blessed new “covenant to the people” and “light to the nations” (Isaiah 41:6), Jesus Christ.

It is amazing and thrilling to see all of these prophecies that we have been looking at drawing us to the fully revealed truth of our Savior Jesus Christ, Who is our true exalted ”Lord” and “priest forever” (Psalm 110:1,4). Praise God!

It is so crystal clear, as we conclude the Old Testament, as to exactly Who we are looking for, none other than our glorious God, Who is coming as both Our New Covenant Lord and High Priest forever, fulfilling all things beautifully and wonderfully in Himself, while bringing us together, as His New Covenant priesthood kingdom children, in Himself! How blessed we are to see these things now!

This most glorious conclusion, announced in Malachi, was of Messiah, coming to resolve the fundamental issues of sin and separation from God, while simultaneously fulfilling all prior “covenants of promise” (Ephesians 2: 12), in Himself.

Our “Lord, our “Priest Forever” (Psalm 110:1,4), Jesus, was coming to His temple to establish an “eternal Covenant” (Hebrews 13:20) and Priesthood, in Himself, saving us and making us one with Him, by conquering sin and separation from God, perfectly and permanently within the “two offices” (Zechariah 6:13) within Himself, our resurrected Lord and High Priest, Jesus Christ!

As our New Covenant Lord, through His New Covenant blood (Luke 22:20), we know Jesus has completely saved us from our sins, and has made us a new creation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17). As our High Priest forever, we know Jesus has made us to be a kingdom of priests, never to be separated from the One in Whom we abide in, live in, and minister to (Revelation 1:5-6, John 17:23-24). So, Hallelujah, Jesus our Lord conquered sin, while Jesus our Lord and High Priest lives and abides within us, His temple!

It had been a long wait. More than 400 years had passed since Malachi’s prophecy of John the Baptist clearing the way ( “My messenger, and he will clear the way”, small “h” for John), so we might all behold “the Lord” whom we seek, coming suddenly “to His temple” (“the messenger of the covenant, in whom you delight, behold, He is coming”, capital “H” for God, Messiah Jesus).

Yes, our Lord Jesus is the “the messenger of the covenant.”

Oh may our New Covenant priesthood shine more brightly now than ever so that the entire body of Christ might truly understand that we will all “delight,” as Malachi wrote, in Spirit and in truth, if we will behold and see that our Lord and High Priest, Jesus Christ, right now, is the One and the Only “messenger of the covenant” Who has “come to His temple,” and “Thus He will be a priest on His throne, and the counsel of peace will be between the two offices,” (Zechariah 6:13)!

We praise You, our Lord and our God, our Lord and our High Priest forever. Thank You for Your beautiful counsel of peace within us, which is You, Jesus! we worship You! We praise You, our Lord and High Priest on the throne of our hearts. You are so worthy to be praised, all of the time, for Who You are and for all you have done, making us your beloved children, your New Covenant priesthood, so we may draw near to you at all times, abiding and being one with You in Your glorious sun and shield presence.

Oh Lord, we pray that all of Your children will truly see You exalted and understand You, now, as our One Lord, Messenger, and High Priest of the New Covenant. We pray all Christians will blessedly behold, believe, and enter the holy kingdom of priests You have made us and graced us all to be, all one together in You, in Your New and eternal Covenant. We pray “for a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Christ” to be sought after and received by the entire body of Christ, so that we all will be quickened to true life in You, in Your fullness, all to Your praise and glory!

In Jesus’ precious name and Spirit we pray to You, Abba Father, as Your devoted and eternally grateful kingdom of priests. Thank You! Hallelujah!
