Our Identity, Our Priesthood & Our New Song
Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne:
“They sang a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and the elders; and no one could learn the song except the one hundred and forty four thousand who had been purchased from the earth. These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever He goes. These have been purchased from among men as first fruits to God and to the Lamb”
Revelation 14:3-4
Yesterday we beheld an awesome scene in heaven where “twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, and they sang a new song” (Revelation 5:8-9). The words of this “new song” of praise and adoration to our Lamb of God, Jesus Christ, included, “You were slain, and purchased for God with Your blood men from every tribe and tongue and nation. You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God” (Revelation 5:9-10).
Now, in this day’s text, from chapter 14 of Revelation, we see that “no one could learn the song except the one hundred and forty four thousand.” This is the same blood washed 144,000 we looked at a few days back from Revelation, Chapter 7, and we were seeing them ministering to the Lord as priests immediately, by serving day and night in the temple who, as I said, represent the entire body of Christ.
The number twelve, in Scripture, stands for God’s divine completion and fullness (12 tribes, 12 apostles, 12 gates to the city etc...). One hundred and forty four thousand is twelve thousand twelves, (12,000 x 12), which in this case represents God’s absolutely final, complete, divine, fulfillment of all His people belonging to Him, as His beloved children and as a mature “kingdom and priests,” just as He has always desired and stated.
Beloved, in this day it is only we, the body of Christ, who can learn this “new song.” Only the truly redeemed can sing this new song and, I add, it is only the truly redeemed who want to sing this “new song.”
We know that our Savior, Jesus Christ, gave His all for us at Calvary so let us give our all to Him, our Savior and High Priest, right now, honoring our God by being expressly who He has created us to be, His priesthood.
Besides, in being priests unto our God, we are blessed to make a well worn path into His presence where we discover our own abiding “fullness of Joy” (Psalm 16:11). As priests unto our God, we learn and come to know that responding to the call of our priesthood and singing our “new song” of Jesus Christ, of Who He is, what He has done, and who has made us to be, is one of the best blessings we can partake of in this life.
Practicing our priesthood enriches and enlivens every single aspect of our lives in Christ.
So I say, let us all learn to radiantly sing our “new song” of redemption, belonging, and priesthood. Let us sing this song to our Lord in His presence, and to this world as we live our lives for Christ, all for the singularly blessed purpose of honoring our God by being exactly who He has made us to be, “a kingdom and priests to our God.”
So simple. So joyful. So directly God honoring.
I’m so thankful and grateful that we have this entire “new song” in our hearts. We are so blessed to bless our Lord in His presence. Yes, sing this “new song” of deliverance, redemption and priesthood to your Abba Father in His presence even now, and bless Him for blessing you. Hallelujah!
