One Thing I Have Asked From The Lord

Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne:

“One thing I have asked from the Lord, that I shall seek; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord and to meditate in His temple”

Psalm 27:4

This “one thing” that David asked from the Lord, which is now our blessed reality as priests of God, reminds me of the apostle Paul’s words in the New Testament, from His letter to the church at Philippi, when he wrote,“ I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord,” further stating his desire “that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings” (Philippians 3:8,10).

This single hearted desire, the “one thing” that the true seeker of God wants, is more of God, Himself.

David was king of Israel but he wanted more of God. He wanted to enter, to remain, and to live in the presence of God so He may behold God’s beauty and meditate in His temple.

Paul put all things aside so he may pursue knowing more of Christ.

Every time that we minister to our Lord, as priests in His presence, we are growing in the knowing of our Lord, even as we dwell in His house within us, beholding the beauty of our Lord, and meditating in His holy temple.

This is God’s expressed will for the entire body of Christ to realize, that all would desire to, and actually would, bow before Jesus Christ, in His presence, so that “He Himself will come to have first place in everything” (Colossians 1:18).

To the heart of a minister unto the Lord, like David and Paul (see Acts 13:1-2), this is music to our ears. Yes Lord, more of You please! May we occupy that inner room, the temple within us, living with You, beholding Your beauty, and meditating upon Your beauty in Your presence, that we might know You, love You, please You, and be filled with You.

O beloved child of God, let this be the “one thing” that you ask for today, and then seek after that “one thing” in His presence. Yes, seek after and enter into the house of the Lord within you, and praise Him that He blesses you to “behold the beauty of the Lord” as you “meditate in His temple.”

If this truly is the “one thing” that you ask for and seek after, then praise Him for you are already blessed to have what you seek after! You are His priest in His presence, right now and forever! Behold His beauty today!

Hallelujah!
