O The Riches Of Taking Refuge “In The Shadow Of Your Wings”
Today’s Word of Encouragement From Wayne:
“How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God! And the children of men take refuge in the shadow of Your wings. They drink their fill of the abundance of Your house; and You give them to drink of the river of Your delights. For with You is the fountain of life; in Your light we see light”
Psalm 36:7-9
Once again we see David’s reference to “the shadow of Your wings” as being beautifully and tenderly descriptive of his understanding about his own personal and intimate spiritual tabernacle of fellowship with God.
In this day, when you and I minister to our Lord in His presence, we are actually taking refuge “in the shadow of Your wings.” It is in this place, as David saw it, that we drink our fill “of the abundance Your house.” So, “Your house” is “in the shadow of Your wings.”
When we minister to God in His presence we are in God’s house, which is within us now, and this is where we spiritually drink, as David indicated, the living waters of Jesus Christ which spring up within us to life eternal (John 4: 14).
So, under “the shadow of Your wings” is where God’s house is, which is where we are always blessed to drink from “the river of Your delights.”
More specifically, under “the shadow of Your wings” is God’s house with a river in it, of delights, for us to freely drink our fill from.
Also, “under the shadow of Your wings” is “the fountain of life,” and our beholding of all of these wonderful blessings, in spirit and in truth, is accomplished within us as we draw near to minister to our Lord, because, “in Your light we see light.”
Someone could read all of this and say “I don’t see any of it.” In order for us to see these things, we need to first get ourselves under the shadow of God’s wings so we may see all of this, for it is only in His light that we will see this light.
Is God’s lovingkindness is precious to you? Then I encourage you to take refuge, without delay, “in the shadow of Your wings” this day.
For it is in this place, in the abundance of His house within you, that His lovingkindness is beautifully and bountifully realized, as you freely drink your fill of; “the abundance of Your house,” “the river of Your delights,” and “the fountain of life.” Yes, enter in to this light, to “Your light,” so that you may “see light,” the great spiritual light and reality of these blessed truths awaiting you in the loving presence of your God as you minister to Him.
David had a beautifully and spiritually vivid way of describing the reality of what he received from God when he was in His presence. May God give you this same vivid reality of these riches today, within you, as you “take refuge in the shadow of Your wings.”
Hallelujah!
