Ministering To The Lord Is Being “A Man After My Heart”

Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne:

“Your kingdom shall not endure. The Lord has sought out for Himself a man after His own heart, and the Lord has appointed him as ruler over His people”

1 Samuel 13:14

These were the words of the Lord through Samuel, now a grown man, to king Saul, who had “not kept the commandment of the Lord your God” (1 Samuel 13:13).

David was the one whom God had found, “a man after His own heart,”who would soon be anointed king by Samuel (1 Samuel 16:4-13).

The apostle Paul, on his first missionary journey, commented upon this Scripture from 1st Samuel, when he preached the gospel at Pisidian Antioch, saying, “He raised up David to be their king, concerning whom He also testified and said, ‘I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My heart, who will do all My will’” (Acts 13:22).

David himself wrote, “When You said, ‘Seek My face,’ my heart said to You, ‘Your face, O Lord, I shall seek’” (Psalm 27:8).

Similarly today, when we minister to the Lord, we are actively seeking the face of God from our hearts.

Ministering to the Lord is our confession and act of being a person “after My heart,” just as we saw with Samuel who, as a child, ministered to the Lord and thus became the one God could speak to and reveal His plans, His heart, to.

David expressed this desire himself, earlier in the 27th Psalm, when He wrote, “One thing I have asked from the Lord, that I shall seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord and to meditate in His temple” (Psalm 27:4).

Praise God, when you and I minister to the Lord, we are dwelling “in the house of the Lord,” in our inner room, in our inner most being, where our Lord presently dwells. What a precious privileged blessing our God has given us in our priesthood to Him.

When we minister to the Lord we truly are beholding “the beauty of the Lord” and we are meditating “in His temple.”

Let us thank our gracious Lord that every single one of us, when we are born again, are given this same pure heart for God.

Our ministering to our Lord is the active cultivation of a heart that truly is “after My heart.”

I encourage you to be a person “after My heart” today. Yes, let us all go after God’s heart with thanksgiving in His presence today! Let us Bless His holy name and be blessed to do so. Hallelujah!
