Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne:

“Therefore, He had to be made like His brethren in all things, so that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God”

Hebrews 2:17

Thank You Lord! It is amazing to see the depth of our Savior’s love for us in his becoming like us “in all things” so that He might be “merciful and faithful” on our behalf to God.

Jesus Christ, our most blessed High Priest, in love chose to come to earth and become like us “in all things” so that, in addition to being “faithful” to God, He would be “merciful and faithful” towards us.

This is what our priesthood is intended to produce in us as we minister to God - faithfulness to our Lord and mercy towards people. This is a special quality specifically produced in us when we say yes to being a “kingdom and priests to our God” (Revelation 5:10).

First we faithfully minister to our Lord in His presence, thereby receiving a fresh anointing of His faithfulness and mercy. And then we are able to faithfully and mercifully minister to people in this world, in Jesus’ Name and Spirit.

This is what a priest unto God does, because this is the nature of Jesus Christ, our High Priest. As our High Priest of a New Covenant, Jesus Christ is our mediator, making peace between us and our heavenly Father. In and through Christ’s sacrifice and resurrection, and our repentance and reception, we have been made new in God and made one with God.

Therefore this has become our nature as well, as a priest unto God, that we might minister to people in such a way that they too will be brought to God and made one with Him.

Jesus did not live among us in order to judge us, unmercifully, although He certainly could have, if He chose to.

Instead, our Savior chose to live among us so that He may love us even more and be merciful towards us.

Jesus, your High Priest, is mercy-full right now towards you and within you. If you behold His mercy, as you minister to Him in His presence, then His merciful outlook on humanity will quickly become your outlook as well.

Being merciful towards this world is so much better than being judgmental and unmerciful.

And certainly being merciful is better for your own heart, mind, spirit, and walk with God.

Thank you Lord Jesus, for being our “merciful and faithful” High Priest, every single day of our lives! We love You Lord. May we be made more and more into Your image today, in Your presence before You, and towards this world, we pray. Hallelujah!
