Giving Thanks And Singing Praises Directly To God
Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne:
“It is good to give thanks to the Lord and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High”
Psalm 92:2
Hallelujah, beloved of God ! I pray your life in Christ will be blessed this day to see, in this verse from the 92nd Psalm, the immediate sensing of God’s presence that takes place on our lives when we decide to give thanks to God.
The Psalmist begins by saying, “It is good to give thanks to the Lord.” Amen! As children of our Abba Father, through Jesus Christ, we certainly know that it is so good, so therapeutic, for us to thank our great and gracious God for Who He is and for all that He has done for us in His Son.
We know that we are always blessed in our Lord God when we take the time to bless His name.
Notice what happens next in this verse, immediately after this declaration that “It is good to give thanks to the Lord.” The Psalmist switches from speaking OF God in the third person,“the Lord”, to speaking directly TO God in the first person, “to sing praises to YOUR NAME, O Most High.”
The wonderfully simple and blessed truth for you and I to recognize here is this, as soon as we think of praising our Lord, the Holy Spirit within us draws us immediately to God, into His presence, so we may directly praise Him. Oh Hallelujah!
So, the next time you are thinking of how good God is and how good it is to give thanks to him, which I hope is constantly, allow the Holy Spirit of the living God within you to immediately draw you into His presence so you may sing praises directly “to Your name, O Most High.”
Yes, let yourself become so sensitive and tender to your Lord of love, Jesus Christ, Who abides in you even now, that just the thought of His goodness will cause you to draw near in praises directly to Him.
When you praise God in the third person, it’s just not as close and as satisfying to your soul as is praising God in the First Person, singing directly and personally to your Lord in His presence.
Let this word from Psalm 92 be a word of loving-life-direction to you and you will soon find yourself saying regularly, because you want to, because you have tasted and have seen God’s goodness in this Scripture, that “It is good to give thanks to the Lord and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High.”
Hallelujah!
