Full Of Grace And Truth - Part 1

Today's Word Of Encouragement From Wayne:

"In the beginning was the Word"

John 1:1

It is so easy for us to become confused in the Christian life. It is so easy for us to slip away from our “first love” (Rev. 2:4), Christ Himself,  into a whirlwind of  "holy activity" which so easily can leave us tired, frustrated, and aware of our own selves instead of God's Son. At times like this we need to sit back, rest, and remember that “in the beginning was the Word.”

The joy of our new birth was the joy of discovering Jesus. He was everything and the knowledge of His love and forgiveness set our hearts on high. It is we who encumber our faith. We put conditions upon ourselves and we put conditions upon God's love and then, instead of living joyfully on high with Christ, we obligate ourselves right out of God’s presence.

Jesus Christ, our Savior, is “the Word” in the beginning that John wrote of. Jesus is God the Father’s present “Word” to this world. Jesus is our “Word of life” (1 John 1:1). He is our life-giving “Word of God” (Rev. 19:13). He was in the beginning with us and, truly, we have no beginning at all apart from Him. The joy of our new birth, if we desire it, is still the joy of discovering Jesus - to know Him in a greater depth and breadth. He gave us, right “in the beginning”, in Himself, everything we needed  to set us free from sin and death. He still is our life. He still is our way. He still is our truth. He still is our Good Shepherd (John 14:6, 10:11). In all of our obligations in life, let us never forget that our Savior’s expressed desire for us is that, “My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full” (John 15:11).

Today, allow yourself that great, wonderful child-like “in the beginning” joy and amazement of fully “fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith” (Hebrews 12:2). Let Him be your everything right now - for He truly is. “In the beginning was the Word” and the Word was good and the word was your whole life. Let Him be so today. Hallelujah!
