Eating The Most Holy Things
Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne:
“The priests who are near the Lord shall eat the most holy things”
Ezekiel 42:13
Oh the sweet joy of “ministering to the Lord” (Acts 13:2)!
In the Old Testament, the specially privileged priests, who ministered to the Lord, would step into the inner court, next to the Holy of Holies, where God dwelt, and in that place these priests ministered to the Lord (Ezekiel 44).
In our day, as we are now a kingdom of priests to our God (Revelation 1:6), we know that, as Christians, we have become “a temple of God and that the Holy Spirit dwells in you” (1 Corinthians 3:16, 2 Corinthians 6:16). The presence of God, the Holy of Holies, now lives in us - “Christ in you, the hope of glory” is what the apostle Paul declared (Colossians 1:27).
The inner court is within us now, that specially privileged place in our innermost being where we recognize our identity as priests unto the Lord and, in doing so, we offer free will ministry to our indwelling Lord, Who is “Christ in” us!.
In the inner court in the Old Testament there were three items: the lamp stand, the table of shew bread, and the altar of incense. Each of these items represent Jesus Christ to us as we minister as priests in His presence.
Jesus Christ is our lamp stand; His is the one and only light in the inner court. He is the light of our world.
Jesus Christ is our table of shew bread, where we come into His presence and “eat” of Him, our bread of life, our daily bread, truly eating “the most holy things.”
The altar of incense represents our inner communion with Jesus Christ as all our prayers ascend through Him, our High Priest (Hebrews 3:1), to God our Father.
Within our inner court we are gifted with the light of Christ, the bread of Christ, and unbroken perfect communion with Christ in spirit!
This is what eating the most holy things is all about.
Today, I encourage you to step into His presence and practice your priesthood in the inner court. Yes, come, beloved child of God, take up the mantle of your priesthood, and “eat the most holy things” in the presence of your gracious, loving God and High Priest, Jesus Christ.
Hallelujah!
