Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne: “Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day” 2 Corinthians 4:16
“Being renewed day by day” reminds me of a popular song from the late nineteen sixties titled Day By Day, written by Stephen Schwartz.
The lyrics went, “Day by day, day by day, O dear Lord three things I pray - to see Thee more clearly, to love Thee more dearly, to follow Thee more nearly, day by day.”
In light of what we have been looking at these past two days, in this Scripture from the apostle Paul’s second letter to the church at Corinth, concerning our own “day by day” renewal offered to us in Christ, this is a wonderful and simple prayer to keep one’s new self on the path of a focused awareness of renewal.
Yes, if we will joyfully set our hearts to see, love, and follow Jesus our indwelling resurrected Savior and Lord day by day, then we will be rewarded to be in the conscious presence of His renewing Spirit and love day by day.
To see Thee more clearly - amen. Let us learn to blessedly be in a perpetual state, as the author of Hebrews wrote, of “fixing our eyes upon Jesus” (Hebrews 12:2).
To love Thee more dearly - amen. Let us always remember, as the apostle John wrote, that “We love, because He first loved us” (1 John 4:19).
To follow Thee more nearly - amen. Let us never forget that Jesus Himself said, “Where I am, there my servant will be also” (John 12:26).
It’s never a problem for me to be reminded constantly to abide with my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in real time, in His real presence, in His real Holy Spirit. This is the very life I hunger for and thirst after every day.
Yes, hallelujah, it is the blessing of our lives on earth to actual live with Jesus our God day by day. This is, simply, the heart of our renewal - Christ Himself. And never forget that Jesus, Himself has declared to us, “Lo, I am with you always” (Matthew 28:20).
So, let us be with Him always.
We will always be renewed as we are with Him always - day by day. Hallelujah!
