Concerning Him We Have Much To Say
Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne:
“Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from the things that He suffered. And having been made perfect, He became to all those who obey Him the source of eternal salvation, being designated by God as a high priest according to the order of Melchizadek. Concerning him we have much to say, and it is hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing”
Hebrews 5: 8-11, Psalm 110:4
The author of Hebrews had “much to say” concerning Jesus Christ our glorious “high priest according to the order of Melchizadek.” Indeed, everything written up to this point in Hebrews was concerning this theme of Christ, our High Priest, of a new and better covenant.
The first verse of Hebrews chapter three, in fact, began this way, “Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the apostle and High Priest of our confession.”
However, here, in today’s text, the author paused, before going further, writing, “Concerning him we have much to say, and it is hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing.” Then, from Hebrews 5:11 through 6:12, the author confronted the people’s failure to “press on to maturity” (6:1), of their not even grasping the “elementary principles” (5:12) of faith, exhorting them to “press on” into the deeper profound truths of Christ, saying, “beloved, we are convinced of better things concerning you, and things that accompany salvation” (6:9).
Certainly one major thing that accompanies our salvation is a profound and complete desire within us for the true knowledge of Who our Savior is, Jesus Christ, the prophesied One of Psalm 110, Who is currently both our Lord and our High Priest forever.
Then, from Hebrews 6:12 on, and through the next four complete chapters in fact (chapters 7-10), the writer of Hebrews did have “much to say” about our great High Priest.
My brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ, this exact same dullness of hearing and lack of knowledge is rampant in the church today, concerning the precise and complete God-honoring truth of Jesus Christ our Lord and High Priest of a New Covenant.
It is all around us.
Just look at chapter after chapter in this Word of God teaching in this one book of Hebrews alone concerning this supreme truth, and then ask yourself, where is the body of Christ on this issue?
It seems like everyone has gone their own way with the result that all we like sheep have gone astray.
This precious, holy of holies truth, of our High Priest and of His “New Covenant in My blood” (Luke 22:20), is almost completely absent in churches today. Most folks act like there isn’t even a covenant at all today.
So, let us rise up with a new anointing of obedience and understanding, concerning our great High Priest, Jesus Christ, and of ourselves as His Own “royal priesthood” (1st Peter 2:5-9), purely for the sake of Jesus Christ and His New Covenant.
Let us put away ignorance and walk in the light of His enlightenment.
Beloved priest of God, minister to your High Priest today with thankfulness, and proclaim to all, who have any regard for the body of Christ, the “New Covenant in My blood” (Luke 22:20) truth of our “Lord” (Psalm 110:1) and “priest forever” (Psalm 110:4), Jesus. Praise Jesus! Lift Him up! Hallelujah!
