A Prophecy About Samuel, Jesus, and You!
Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne:
“But I will raise up for Myself a faithful priest who will do according to what is in My heart and in My soul; and he will walk before My anointed always”
1 Samuel 2:35
A prophet of God had spoken these words to Eli, shortly before the Lord called to Samuel in the temple at night.
The first meaning of this prophecy, I believe, is about Samuel, who was faithful to God and who did, during his life, walk before God’s anointed kings, having been integral to God’s anointing of both Saul and David.
The second meaning of this prophecy, I believe, is about our Savior, “Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession” (Hebrews 3:1), Who truly has done all that is in God’s heart and soul.
Jesus, as our High Priest, does walk before “My anointed always” because Jesus Christ is the Anointed One. The Hebrew word for “Messiah” literally means “Anointed.” Praise God!
The third meaning of this prophecy, I believe, is about us, Christians in the body of Christ, God’s present day “holy priesthood” (1 Peter 2:5&9, Revelation 1:5-6, 5: 9-10, Ephesians 2: 19-22, 1 Corinthians 3:16). So, let us be faithful to God also, to do “what is in My heart and My soul,” and let us walk before His “anointed always,” Jesus Christ, our risen and indwelling King and High Priest.
Ministering to the Lord is our act of attending to “what is in My heart and My soul,” being filled with God and with His will as we minister His presence, so we may be empowered with His Spirit and understanding, to walk in His will as we live out our faith in this world.
Oh Let us, by our Lord’s grace, continue as God’s “royal priesthood,” for it is so greatly needed in this day, and this is our Father’s mandate for us, that we would be “a kingdom and priests to our God” (Revelation 5:10).
Samuel was not a Levite. Neither was Jesus. Neither are you or I. What we all have in common is a great love for and dedication to God. This is what God is looking for, a freewill new born kingdom of priests dedicated to “what is in My heart and My soul.”
Say “Yes!” to God today!
Hallelujah!
