I Will Praise The Lord While I Live - Part 3
Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne:
“Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord, O my soul!”
Psalm 146:1
I love this. Do you know what this feels like to me?
Picture going outside to mow the lawn, if you have a lawnmower that has one of those pull cords to get it started. “Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord, O my soul" is like pulling the cord to get your soul started.
“Okay, soul, let’s get praising here!” And that’s what we need to do. We cannot wait for our own soul to feel like it.
Sometimes it’s almost as if we’re shaking our soul, “Wake up, priest unto God! Wake up and praise the Lord! Praise the Lord, O my soul!”
And that’s how this Psalm begins. It’s a good way to start.
“Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord, O my soul! I will praise the Lord while I live. I will sing praises to my God while I have my being” (Ps. 146:1-2).
Here it is. This is the beautiful declaration of our life.
You know, we could say, “What is God's will for my life?” Or, we could say, “I KNOW what God's will is for my life. It’s right here. ‘I will praise the Lord while I live, I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.’”
Praise the Lord for what?
Well, start filling in the blanks. There are lots of them. Thank Him for salvation. Thank Him that He loved the world so much. Start thanking Him for things and the list is endless. It’s the whole idea of “counting our blessings.” So, “I will praise the Lord while I live. I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.”
Praise God today, beloved child. Tell your soul to praise God! That’s right. This is more about our deliberate faith than about our waiting to feel like praising God, or not.
Tomorrow we will being looking at how this declared life of praise enriches every single area of our lives! “Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord, O my soul!” Hallelujah!
