God Works All Things Together To His Plan

Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne:

God Works All Things Together To His Plan

“The angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city in Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin engaged to a man whose name was Joseph, of the descendants of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary. And coming in, he said to her, ‘Greetings, favored one! The Lord is with you.’”

Luke 1:26-28

Have you ever wondered why God didn’t just pick a virgin who was not already engaged, or why the angel didn’t come to Mary before she was betrothed to Joseph? Didn’t God’s plan cause extra trouble for Joseph and Mary?

The beauty in this text for us to see is that obviously this was the way God wanted things. Mary, and Joseph, were both part of God’s plan for Messiah to be born, and raised.

This Scripture states that Gabriel was sent to Nazareth to speak to a virgin named Mary about Messiah being born, thus fulfilling the prophecy from Isaiah, “The Lord Himself will give you a sign: behold a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call his name Immanuel” (Isaiah 7: 14).

This Scripture also states specifically that Gabriel was sent to “a virgin engaged to man whose name was Joseph, of the descendants of David, thus fulfilling multiple prophecies of Messiah coming from the lineage of David, which also honors God’s promise to David to continue his lineage, to never lack a man on the throne. Of Messiah, Scripture prophesies, “Incline your ear and come to Me. Listen, that you may live: and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, according to the faithful mercies shown to David. Behold I have made him a witness to the peoples, a leader and commander for the peoples” (Isaiah 55: 3-4). And, to David, “You shall not lack a man on the throne of Israel” (1 Kings 2:4).

So, what looked like a mess to some, and a scandal to others (Of Mary being with child while not married), was actually all part of God’s perfect plan.

We need to take this truth and application into our own lives. Perhaps we are looking at something we are in, and it looks like a real non God glorifying mess to us. That’s our point of view, as we look at the loose threads on the underside of the tapestry.

However, I encourage you to take heart from this passage and entrust yourself fully to your Savior, believing that God, your heavenly Father, knows best, and will always work all things to good.

There are no loose threads on the top side of the beautiful tapestry of your life, from God’s point of view.

Joseph could have hidden in shame and humiliation, over his betrothed being pregnant, and lived the rest of his life under the judgement of others. Instead, he accepted God’s will and set His face toward that, and he became part of fulfilling prophecy about Messiah.

You see, in the Jewish religion, it is the fathers blood line that is regarded. Our Messiah was prophesied to be both king (from David’s line) and high priest (after the order of Melchizadek Psalm 110: 1&4). So it was a crucial ingredient in God’s plan that there needed to be a willing stand in father: who would despise and disregard the shame, who would represent God, be faithful to His plan, be faithful to His precious betrothed, the mother of God, and to the Son of God, Whom Abba Father entrusted into Joseph’s hands.

So, bless your Lord that He works all things together for good and for God. Believe the same for your life today, be blessed, and give thanks. God is working all things together for good for you. Hallelujah!
