Praise The Lord In Song For He Has Done Excellent Things
Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne:
“‘Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; for the Lord God is my strength and song, and He has become my salvation.’ Therefore you will joyously draw water from the springs of salvation. And in that day you will say, ‘ Give thanks to the Lord, call on His name. Make known His deeds among the peoples; make them remember that His name is exalted.’ Praise the Lord in song, for He has done excellent things”
Isaiah 12:2-5
Hallelujah! My brothers and sisters, these words from the prophet Isaiah perfectly reflect our present salvation in Christ, along with our position as priests in His presence, praising Him and drinking “water from the springs of salvation,” the “living water” of our Lord, Himself, from within our “innermost being” (John 7:37-38).
“Behold, God is my salvation.” We have already seen how, later on in Isaiah, God declared of Messiah, “And I will appoint you as a covenant to the people, as a light to the nations” (42:6). Jesus Christ, Himself, through His “new covenant in My blood” (Luke 22:20), is God’s “covenant to the people.” “Jesus has become the guarantee of a better covenant” the author of Hebrews tells us (Hebrews 7:22). So, yes indeed, the Christian who understands these things joyfully declares, “Behold, God [Himself] is my salvation.”
The words “God is my strength and song” refer to our “new song” of the “new things,” that we presently have, in Christ, which were also spoken of in Isaiah 42 (vs 9-10). As priests unto God in His New Covenant, we are singing our new song to our Lord in His presence and to this world so that we may “make known His deeds among the peoples; [and] make them remember that His name is exalted. [So we] praise the Lord in song, for He has done excellent things.”
By living a life of praise before God, we testify to God’s church and to this world “that His name is exalted.”
We lead by way of example. If we want God’s church and this world to see how exalted God deserves to be, than let us exalt our Lord! Yes, let us “praise the Lord in song” in His presence, as His Own grateful and “royal priesthood” (1st Peter 2:9). Let us encourage God’s church towards the realization of our priesthood through our own faithful and joyful participation as priests who are praising in our Lord’s presence.
A strong priesthood in the presence of God could wake up all of Christianity to joyfully say “Behold, God is my salvation.” A fully awake and responsive church, to the New Covenant, the priesthood, and presence of God, praising “the Lord in song, for He has done excellent things” through Jesus Christ, would make this whole world more aware of our Lord Jesus Christ, Whom we serve and worship, and Whom this world needs to see, in order to respond to salvation.
Yes, continue always to rejoice in God, Who is our salvation, by praising in His presence today, singing directly unto Him“for He has done excellent things.” Hallelujah!
