Jesus Christ, Right Now, Is Our “Priest Forever”
Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne:
“The Lord has sworn and will not change His mind, You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizadek”
Psalm 110:4
Hallelujah, Jesus Christ, right now, is our “priest forever according to the order of Melchizadek,” which David prophesied in this Psalm.
No less than Jesus, Himself, said that this Psalm was specifically and prophetically written about Him (Matthew 22: 42-45). The writer of Hebrews repeatedly quoted this Psalm in reference to Jesus, our High Priest (Hebrews 5:5-10, 7:11-22, 1:13).
So, what do you think the best and most appropriate way would be for you and I, and for God’s true church, to recognize and honor our Lord God, Jesus Christ, as our “forever” High Priest? By willingly and joyfully submitting ourselves to becoming and being Jesus Christ’s Own “royal priesthood” in this generation, which Scripture calls us to (1st Peter 2: 9, Revelation 1:5-6), faithfully ministering to our God as His priesthood in this present world; this is how we give testimony to the truth of our precious Savior as our “priest forever.”
Psalm 110 is huge in importance, in terms of prophecy regarding a coming Messiah (Jesus Christ) who would be both “Lord” (Vs 1) and “priest forever.” We will spend a few days with this text (and with Melchizadek), along with Psalm 110's fulfillment and many references recorded in the new testament book of Hebrews.
May God fill your life with insight and blessing concerning Jesus Christ, our King and High Priest of a New Covenant, richly realized through our ordained priesthood to our God.
“The Lord has sworn and will not change His mind” that Jesus Christ is both our “priest forever according to the order of Melchizadek” (verse 4) and “my Lord” (verse 1).
We have seen throughout Old Testament history, that God always was looking for a people who would be “to Me a kingdom of priests” (Exodus 19:6). Now, we will begin to see that God was looking ahead, through prophecy, to His Son (Isaiah 9) coming to us as Savior, Lord, King, and Priest, establishing a New Covenant with a new people who would knowingly and willingly be His “kingdom and priests to our God” (Revelation 5:10).
That’s us!
After all, what is a priest without a priesthood? It is up to us to be God’s inner court priesthood in this present day, so that this truth, this much needed truth of Jesus Christ, right now, may be seen and received by the entire body of Christ, for the glory of God and for the inner core strengthening of His church in these last days.
The best way for you to know and to grow in the knowledge of Jesus Christ as your High Priest is for you to be a priest to Him. Say “Yes” to your priesthood today by thoughtfully and gratefully ministering to your Lord, your “priest forever,” in His presence. Hallelujah!
