Performing The Divine Worship
Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne:
“Now when these things have been so prepared, the priests are continually entering the outer tabernacle performing the divine worship”
Hebrews 9:6
Praise You Lord that you have made us in this day, your children, to be “a royal priesthood” (2 Peter 2:9) so we may all be “continually entering the outer tabernacle performing divine worship!” Oh thank You Jesus!
The context of this portion of Hebrews chapter nine was about the old and the new, concerning how the old testament temple service has been fulfilled in Jesus Christ, our Messiah of the New Covenant; “when Christ appeared as a high priest of the good things to come” (Hebrews 9:11). Indeed all of Hebrews points to Christ our High Priest and His fulfillment of the New Covenant.
What I particularly love in this sixth verse are two specific things.
However, though, let me first explain that the “outer tabernacle” mentioned here is actually the inner court of the temple, with “the lampstand and the table and the sacred bread” (Hebrews 9:2). This portion of Hebrews was looking at worship in the inner court and at the Holy of Holies. So here is what I love.
First, I see that, as priests of our Lord, we are so graciously favored and blessed to be “continually entering” His presence. As awakened and aware priests, we actually want to be with our Lord in the inner court (the inner court within us) ministering to Him, for indeed we have tasted and seen “that the Lord is good” (Psalm 34:8), so we keep coming back for more!
Because we have accepted the mantle of our priesthood, we are highly favored in grace to be awakened to this refreshment in His presence, available to us “continually.”
Second, I love that this inner court worship is called “divine worship,” as if to say it is particularly honoring to God.
In our lives there is worship - good worship, great worship - I hope for all - but “ministering to the Lord” (Acts 13:2) is called “divine worship.”
O taste and see today, priest of God, the “divine worship” awaiting you in His presence. Practice with joy and gratitude the great invitation and blessing you have been given, to “continually” enter His presence.
Yes, taste, see, experience and linger in how “divine” this “divine worship” truly is. Hallelujah!
