God The Father, Jeremiah, David, Jesus, The New Covenant, & Us

Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne:

God The Father, Jeremiah, David, Jesus, The New Covenant, & Us

“Thus says the Lord, ‘If you can break My covenant for the day and My covenant for the night, so that day and night will not be at their appointed time, then My covenant may also be broken with David My servant so that he will not have a son to reign on his throne, and with the Levitical priests, My ministers’”

Jeremiah 33:20-21

This single prophetic text from Jeremiah truly embodies all that we have seen in our studies in the book of Hebrews regarding Jesus Christ, Who presently is our reigning King and High Priest of God’s New Covenant.

This New Covenant, declared and explained to us in Hebrews, is the Covenant which God spoke of in this text through Jeremiah. In fact, we clearly see in this text how seriously God, Himself, underscored His coming New Covenant, by saying that it is permanent, immovable and unbreakable, even as night and day are.

Once more we also see that our Abba Father’s New Covenant, in which we presently live through our indwelling New Covenant Lord, Jesus Christ, is a direct fulfillment of God our Father’s Personal, tender, and loving promise to His servant David, “to have a son reign on his throne” and to perpetuate a priesthood to Himself through “My ministers.”

God has fulfilled His part of the promise. God has fulfilled His promised New Covenant to David in the Person of Jesus Christ, a son of David (“Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me” Luke 18:38), Who does presently and permanently reign upon His throne as “Lord” and Who is also our “priest forever” (Psalm 110:1&4).

So, let us fulfill our part of God’s promise. How? By simply, actually, and completely being God’s New Covenant people in this age, recognizing and affirming our New Covenant in the blood of our reigning King and High Priest, Jesus Christ, stepping into our realtime priesthood, in God’s presence, before Him as “My ministers.”

Think about this. When you minister to the Lord, you are honoring God the Father, you honor Jesus Christ, you honor “the new covenant in My blood” (Luke 22:22), and you honor King David, who loved, so much, to minister to the Lord.

Not to mention, you allow yourself the huge privilege in God’s presence, in stillness and in worship before Him, for your loving Lord to Personally renew you and bless you immensely in Himself!

David’s one burning desire before God, was “ that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord and to meditate in his temple” (Psalm 27:4).

Amen. This is what our priesthood and ministering to the Lord is all about.

Let us pick up this mantle and truly start living in this promise of God, of His New Covenant. We are God’s blessed priesthood today, so let us be His blessed priesthood today.

Imagine what our God could do in this world today through His people if every Christian embraced our New Covenant and our royal priesthood (1 Peter 2:9) in a most humble, grateful, aware, God honoring way. We would be truly plugged in, submitted to, and understanding God’s perfect plan for us in Jesus Christ, in completion, for the first time in our lives! What power, what oneness, what presence, what love, purpose, and joy! Hallelujah!
