Our Mighty God

Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne:

Our Mighty God

“For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; and the government will rest on His shoulders; and His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of peace”

Isaiah 9:6

God’s son, Who has been graciously “given to us” that we would know Him as our “Wonderful Counselor,” is also “Mighty God.”

What does this tell us about our Mighty God?

I’m struck by how lovingly and tenderly God calls to us through this scripture, for what more loving and tender way could God come to us than in the form of a pure, innocent baby?

And then, this baby, this son, is sent to us by God to be our “Wonderful Counselor.”

Oh, see how our Lord is after our hearts with His Own love!

First He comes to us as a baby, and then we find out He is coming to be our “Wonderful Counselor.” It is only then, after these declarations, that God reveals to us that this wonderful counseling son of His is none other than “Mighty God” Himself.

See how our “Mighty God” chooses and orders His words so carefully.

He is coming to us, to be with us, and He is coming for us, that we would come to Him; unafraid of this son “born to us,” and desiring the divine fellowship found in His son’s most wonderful counsel. And then, on top of all of this, to know that this is our “Mighty God” being revealed to us in this way; this is truly amazing love and grace being given to us.

God could have announced His coming by exercising His might, first, over us.

Instead, God chose to win our hearts, out of His love for us.

Praise and bless Your holy Name, Abba Father, that You love us so much, with all your might, that You would tenderly and lovingly send us Your Son, our Savior, our “Wonderful Counselor” and our “Mighty God,” Jesus our forever Messiah. Thank You Lord. Yes, may we walk in the company of Your wonderful counsel and might this day. Hallelujah!
