Distinguishing Your True Self In God’s Presence

Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne:

Distinguishing Your True Self In God’s Presence

“When David returned to bless his household, Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David and said, ‘How the king of Israel distinguished himself today! He uncovered himself today in the eyes of his servants’ maids as one of the foolish ones shamelessly uncovers himself.’ So David said to Michal, ‘It was before the Lord’”

2 Samuel 6:20-21

When you and I minister to our Lord we do distinguish ourselves, in God’s presence, as being before our Lord as priests to worship him.

When David danced before the Lord with all his might, dressed in the basic linen ephod of a priest, “it was before the Lord” and not before man that he danced, as far as he was concerned.

David had spiritual eyes and he beheld God. David did distinguish himself, before the Lord, beautifully, and any of the people there who also had a heart for God would have seen what David did and would have been blessed.

However Michal, his wife, did not have spiritual eyes and so she thought her husband “distinguished himself” by humiliating himself, playing the fool in front of people, because she cared only for outer appearances.

Michal was angry and judging, being solely people conscious, while David was joyful and blessing, being solely God conscious.

Our own fruitfulness as Christians depends upon our seeing with spiritual eyes, being true before our Lord, and being unencumbered by the opinion of the flesh (either ours or someone else’s).

Scripture in this passage concluded by saying “Michal the daughter of Saul had no child to the day of her death,” the meaning for us being that Michal bore no fruit in her life as a result of her despising the Spirit of the Lord, because she cared only for outer appearances.

Do not be afraid of what others may say as a result of your being a priest to God, because people need to look with spiritual eyes in order to see this truth. We all need to see with spiritual eyes in order to receive, understand, and walk in our true spiritual identity.

Caring more about the opinions of people is a sure way to fruitlessness, whereas caring more about our true spiritual identity in God produces fruitfulness, and great joy, for you and for God.

Beloved, may you joyfully and fruitfully distinguish yourself in His presence today. Hallelujah!
