The Holy Portion Is For Those Who Minister To The Lord

Today’s Word of Encouragement From Wayne:

The Holy Portion Is For Those Who Minister To The Lord

“It shall be the holy portion of the land; it shall be for the priests, the ministers of the sanctuary, who come near to minister to the Lord, and it shall be a place for their houses and a place for the sanctuary”

Ezekiel 45:4

For the past few days we have been beholding and understanding the blessed priestly truth for us in the declaration, “The Lord is my portion” (Lamentations 3:24).

Today, in this text from Ezekiel, who himself was a priest, we see this precise, specific truth of God’s inner court priests being given a “holy portion” of land so that the priests “who come near to minister to the Lord” would actually live adjacent to the sanctuary, thereby being the priests who are nearest to the Lord!

So, not only was the Lord the portion of the priests (see Ezekiel 44:28) but, in addition, God actually gave His inner court priests a “holy portion,” whereby they would live as close as they could be to the very presence and Person of God.

This truth is for us today. This text demonstrates to us how wonderfully and completely our Lord Himself desires to bless us, His present priesthood, with our own knowing, experiencing, and confessing that “The Lord is my portion.”

This text from Ezekiel represents you and I, as new covenant priests to our God. Yes, “The Lord is our portion” and we have learned that it truly is the priests “who come near to minister to the Lord” who realize this most blessed truth with the greatest clarity.

The new covenant reality for us is that the Lord, indeed, is our portion, today and for ever, AND He has given us, as His priests, a “holy portion” so that we will have our house, our being, as close as can be to His house, His sanctuary.

We have become the sanctuary of the Holy Spirit in this day (1 Corinthians 3:16, 2 Corinthians 6:16) and when we allow this truth to be activated into our lives, through the practice of our priesthood, then we realize that our “holy portion,” graciously given to us by our God, to be His close priesthood, is a grace on top of grace blessing which allows us the closest and most consistent access to the Lord, Who is our portion.

God has given us, His priests, a “holy portion” in which to live, so we may know our God as our portion. God considers His inner court priests as the ones who are the closest to Him and He expressed this truth through Ezekiel by giving these priests a “holy portion” so that they actually would live the closest to the Lord.

This was God’s will for His inner court priests in Ezekiel, and this is God’s will for us, as His inner court priests today. Let us praise our God for giving us this “holy portion” in which to live, so we may better know, understand, and declare our loving God, Who is our portion. Hallelujah!
