The Difference Between the Melchizadek And The Levitical Priesthood - Life & Death

Today’s Word of Encouragement From Wayne:

The Difference Between the Melchizadek And The Levitical Priesthood - Life & Death

“Thus says the Lord, ‘If you can break My covenant for the day and My covenant for the night, so that day and night will not be at their appointed time, then My covenant may also be broken with David My servant so that he will not have a son to reign on his throne, and with the Levitical priests, My ministers’”

Jeremiah 33: 20-21

In order for there to be a perpetual Levitical priesthood to God as “My ministers,” God was going to introduce a new covenant in which a son of David would perpetually reign upon His throne and which also there would be a perpetual new covenant priesthood.

We have seen in our studies in Hebrews that Jesus Christ is our high priest “according to the order of Melchizadek” (Hebrews 7:17), and that this was foreseen when Levi, in the loins of Abraham, gave a tithe to Melchizadek (Hebrews 7:4-12) and then received a blessing from Melchizadek for “without any dispute the lesser is blessed by the greater” (Hebrews 7:7).

The Melchizadek priesthood is “greater” then the Levitical priesthood, for it not only comes with God’s unalterable and permanent new covenant, but it also exists “according to the power of an indestructible life” (Hebrews 7:16).

“The former priests... were prevented by death from continuing, but Jesus, on the other hand, because He continues forever, holds His priesthood permanently” (Hebrews 7:23-24). Here is an amazing truth for you and I - according to the order of Melchizadek, every single new covenant priest never dies, for we retain our priesthood forever, even as our High Priest Jesus Christ holds His priesthood permanently! By His grace God has made us to be His forever priests in His forever priesthood!

All of the old covenant priests have died and will die. None of God’s new covenant priests die for we live forever in eternal life, as priests, with our forever King and High Priest, Jesus Christ.

Oh Hallelujah and bless our God for giving us such an awesome eternal life priesthood with Himself. The difference between the old covenant and the new covenant is literally the difference between life and death.

Let us joyfully, knowingly, and humbly serve our King as His new covenant forever priesthood! Praise Him greatly in His presence today for He is worthy to be praised! Hallelujah!
