Volunteer Freely In Holy Array
Today’s Word of Encouragement From Wayne:
“Your people will volunteer freely in the day of Your power; in holy array, from the womb of the dawn, Your youth are to You as the dew”
This prophetic verse about God’s people, through David, came in between David’s declaration of “my Lord” as king in verse 1 and as “a priest forever” in verse 4. Psalm 110 is considered David’s great prophetic Psalm of messiah as King and High Priest.
Jesus said this Psalm was about Him in Matthew 22: 42-45.
Peter said this Psalm was about Jesus on the day of Pentecost in Acts 2:32-36.
And the writer of Hebrews referred to this Psalm repeatedly as he wrote of Jesus Christ as our King and High Priest of a New Covenant ( Hebrews 1:13, 5:6, 7:17,21).
So, right in the middle of this awesome declaration of Messiah as King and High Priest (perfectly fulfilled in Jesus Christ - praise God!) There is this statement about “Your people” volunteering freely.
Volunteering for what?
Well, obviously, volunteering freely to be God’s people but, specifically, “Your people will volunteer freely in the day of Your power; in holy array.” We have been seeing that, as priests to our God, with Jesus Christ as our High Priest, that we have been endowed with God’s “holy array” (Psalm 29:2, Isaiah 61: 3&10). So, not only does this Psalm 110 prophesy Jesus Christ as our King and High Priest, but this Psalm also prophesies of us, the body of Christ, as volunteering freely in the day of His power “in holy array,” meaning we joyfully receive our new identity as God’s free will kingdom of Priests of which He, Himself, is King and High Priest over.
