The Father And Son Are One
Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne:
“For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; and the government will rest on His shoulders; and His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of peace”
Wait - how can this be? How can the son who “will be given to us” be also called “Eternal Father?” How can this be possible? How can God, our “Eternal Father,” also be, at the same time, the “child” who “will be born to us?
The answer lays before us, in the two titles given between “Child” and “Eternal Father.”
I invite you to behold the miraculous unfolding of our God’s love for us in this way.
Our “Eternal Father” desired to be close to us, so close in fact, in His presence and fellowship, that He would actually be known to and by us as our “Wonderful Counselor.”
So, Because He is “Mighty God,” He decided it would be best to come to us in the form of a gift, of an innocent “child” who would be “born to us,” a “son” who would be been “given to us.”
This was how God chose to close the gap between mankind and Himself.
This is how our “Eternal Father” decided to become our “Wonderful Counselor;” through His power of “Mighty God” in becoming a “child” Who has been “born to us” and “given to us.” Do you see how beautifully this all fits together?
This can only mean that the Father and the Son are one.
This is the miracle of God’s love, revealed to us so we may know Him, closely, even within us. For just as Jesus Christ, the Son of God, declared, “I and the Father are one” (John 10:30), He also prayed, for us, that this same state of oneness would exist between us and Him even as it presently lives with Father and Son, “that they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they may also be in us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me” (John 17:21).
It is clear from the word of our Lord here that, in order for this world to know that the Father and Son are one, we, God’s children, are the needed added ingredient in order for this to continue to come to pass. Jesus Christ’s word and will is that we will be one as well, with each other, through our being one in our Lord, so “that the world will believe that You sent Me.”
Let us say yes to this. Oh see how great a love our “Eternal Father” has for us, that He has come to us as the “son” so we may know Him and His wonderful counsel, by becoming one with Him even as Father and Son are one.
This is all for our own greatest sense of blessing in this life, for Jesus went on in His prayer, saying, “the glory which You have given Me, I have given to them, that they may be one, just as we are one; I in them and you in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me” (John 17:22-23).
In our yielding to God’s loving call, for us to be one with Him, “that they may also be in us,”even as Father and Son have expressed their love to us by being one, God’s glory becomes released and realized graciously within us, so that we may actually become the continuing unfolding present day fulfillment of this great prophecy from Isaiah, of our Eternal Father’s love for mankind, that all would come to know Him, our “Mighty God” as their own “Wonderful Counselor.”
Let us be one with our God today. Hallelujah!
