Choose The Good Part
Today’s Word of Encouragement From Wayne:
“Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered about so many things; but only one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her”
Luke 10: 41-42
There is one thing that is necessary for us in our Christian life, and that is to be as close to Jesus as possible, humbly at His feet, so we may hear and attend to the word and voice of our Good Shepherd, our Savior, our way, truth, and life.
This is, in Jesus’ Own words, “the good part.”
This is “the good part” of our faith in Christ, namely, being with Christ. Hallelujah! Nobody can take this away from us. This is a gift of God.
We need to practice being with Jesus, in His presence, at His feet, with His word, in order for our understanding of this importance to be quickened to life in us.
Seeing ourselves as priests unto God (1 Peter 2: 4-9), and actually “ministering to the Lord” (Acts 13: 2) IS our act of humbling ourselves before God in His presence, which is where we receive all of the benefits of “the good part.”
Believe me when I tell you that many Christians today are copying Martha instead of Mary and, as a result, they have no idea where the good part is or what they are missing.
The door to God’s presence is wide open to all of His beloved children, but being “worried and bothered about so many things” keeps certain believers in a perpetual state of being so perturbed with the world (which according to Scripture we have died to) that they completely miss the blessed reality of Jesus Christ within, where “the good part” is.
So, today, even if every one around you is “worried and bothered,” and thinks that you should be too, just remember that this is the fundamental difference between being Martha or being Mary. I encourage you to stay with Jesus Christ, in His Spirit and in His word, as Mary did, where “the good part” is, which can’t ever be taken away from you.
Yes, bless God in His presence today and thank Him for this beautiful, joyful, life-renewing, “good part,” which is yours, now and forever, in Jesus’ name. Hallelujah!
