Ministering To The Lord Is Taking The Time To Truly Hear God

Today's Word Of Encouragement From Wayne:

Ministering To The Lord Is Taking The Time To Truly Hear God

“Then the Lord came and stood and called as at other times, ‘Samuel! Samuel!’ And Samuel said, ‘Speak, for your servant is listening.’ The Lord said to Samuel, ‘Behold, I am about to do a thing in Israel at which both ears of everyone who hears it will tingle.’”

1 Samuel 3: 10-11.

God was telling little Samuel first, of a new thing that He was about to do, before He showed anyone else in all of Israel.

Why?

To me the big obvious conclusion is that Samuel, through ministering to the Lord, repeatedly showed God that he, in fact of practice, was the only one in Israel who was actually taking the time to truly hear God, for he was the only one drawing near to God in His presence, and remaining there with Him, ministering to Him.

God wants to speak to us, but in order for us to truly hear we must first, as the psalmist wrote, “be still and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10). Drawing near to the presence of God so we may minister to our Lord, even as Samuel did, is the most beautiful, humble, reverential, and discipled way for us to, in fact of practice, say to our Lord, “Speak, for your servant is listening.”

God wants us to hear His word today and, even more importantly, to understand what we have heard.

So let us all be dedicated, in real time ministry to the Lord, to maintaining and occupying our “inner room” (Matthew 6:6), the “you are a temple of God, and that the spirit of God dwells in you” (1 Corinthians 3:16) environment for our Lord, a place where He may dwell and where we may hear, because we are drawing near on a regular basis, like Samuel did, to minister to our Lord.

Bless Him! Thank Him! Praise Him! Listen to Him! Hallelujah!
