Resting And Reading In The Yoke With Jesus
Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne:
“Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls”
Matthew 11:29
I encourage you to take the yoke of Jesus upon you when you read and study the word of God.
There is no better way to read and understand God’s word than to be in the yoke with Jesus, He of Whom it is written, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” (John 1:1).
Reading God’s word within the light and presence of Jesus Christ, the eternal living Word of God, is like reading God’s word with all the lights on.
Simon Peter once said to Jesus, “Lord to whom shall we go? You have words of eternal life” (John 6:68). Taking the words of God to THE Word of God; reading, studying and meditating upon the Scriptures in the presence of Jesus Christ, the living Word, always ministers life, light and insight.
Being and remaining in the yoke with Jesus allows us to constantly be learning of Him, no matter where we may be reading or studying, throughout the Scriptures.
The gentle and humble heart of our Lord is intended to permeate our innermost being, giving us rest, as we read His word in the yoke with Him. We are graced and gifted to blessedly see all things in Scripture within the great light and purpose of our Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Word of God. Praise God, our Lord desires for us to see all things in the light of Who He is and what He has done.
When we read the Old Testament, we read and study within the greater light and understanding of the New Covenant of Jesus Christ. We read and see all things within the light of His light.
What a blessing and joy it is for us to constantly be in the yoke with our Lord Jesus, learning of Him, as we see all things in the greater light and context of Him Himself.
In the yoke with Jesus we are graced to rest in His word. Hallelujah!
