The Excellent Things Of God Are Accomplished In Jesus Christ – Pt 1
Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne:
"‘Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; for the Lord God is my strength and song, and He has become my salvation.’ Therefore you will joyously draw water from the springs of salvation. And in that day you will say, ‘ Give thanks to the Lord, call on His name. Make known His deeds among the peoples; make them remember that His name is exalted.’ Praise the Lord in song, for He has done excellent things"
Isaiah 12:2-5
Jesus Christ is our most excellent Savior, Lord and High Priest. God has done truly excellent things for us in and through Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ is God’s excellency to us.
When we minister to our Lord, in the inner court of His presence, we are privileged to behold God, Who has become our salvation. And when we depart from our time of
ministering to the Lord, it is so we may "proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called [us] out of darkness into His marvelous light" (1st Peter 2:9). In the inner court we behold His excellencies and in the outer court, of this world, we proclaim His excellencies.
"But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry , by as much as He is also the mediator of a better covenant, which has been enacted on better promises" (Hebrews 8:6). Why is the ministry of Jesus “more excellent” than what previously existed under the old covenant? Because He has established a new covenant which is a “better covenant” with "better promises."
Under the old covenant, given to the nation of Israel, promises were based upon human obedience, with blessings if one succeeded and curses when one failed. Under the new and "better covenant," Jesus Christ has, in perfect obedience, fulfilled the old covenant completely, having atoned for our sins and taken every curse in the old covenant out of the way through His Own pure new covenant blood. "Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us... in order that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the gentiles, so that we would receive the promise of the Spirit through faith" (Galatians 3: 13-14).
Under the new covenant, given for all the nations, all of God’s promises are retained in Christ Jesus. Our Lord earned, through His obedience, all of the promises of God, and now, for you and I, we are graciously told, "as many as are the promises of God, in Him they are yes; therefore also through Him is our Amen to the glory of God through us" (2nd Corinthians 1:20). Certainly “the promise of the Spirit through faith” is one of the “better promises” for us in Jesus Christ’s "better covenant."
All of God’s promises are better now because of Jesus Christ. God wants us all to come to Jesus Christ for His promises, for they are all retained in Him, so that we may all be together as one in Christ, and say, along with the apostle Paul, "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ" (Ephesians 1:3). Oh yes, we have been given “every spiritual blessing” in Jesus Christ.
Praise God this day, for He has given you “excellent things” in the “better promises” through the “better covenant” of Jesus Christ. Hallelujah!
