Let Us Hear Our Shepherd’s Voice

Today’s Word of Encouragement from Wayne:

"The sheep hear His voice, and He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out"

John 10:3

Here are three beautiful truths regarding our Good Shepherd that we have been graciously given and should always be aware of, for our own maximum benefit and blessing throughout each day. Indeed, according to this word, we shouldn’t even think of going “out” our door without first reminding ourselves concerning who we are, the sheep of His pasture, and Who He is, the Lord our Shepherd. Praise God, the first truth in this verse is that "the sheep hear His voice." Yes, our Good Shepherd calls us and speaks to us. If you are not hearing His voice, then it just makes sense for you to come closer to your Shepherd.

Keep drawing nearer to your Shepherd until you hear His voice and then continue drawing closer to your Shepherd until His voice becomes the only voice you hear, the only voice you want to hear, the voice above other voices, the voice that drowns out the other voices. This next truth is certainly a great incentive for us concerning the first truth, for Jesus continued, saying, "and he calls his own sheep by name." Praise God, we do know that our Lord knows us intimately for Jesus said, “the very hairs of your head are all numbered” (Matthew 10:30), but we need to know He hears us personally, that He truly cares for us, and what better way to know this than for us to draw near to our Shepherd, so close that we hear Him (know Him) calling our name.

Our Shepherd is calling us by name, individually, with all the affection and commitment that this implies concerning our Good Shepherd’s love towards us. The third truth in this verse, praise God, is "and leads them out." We hear our Shepherd’s voice; He calls our name and then He leads us out. Out where? Out wherever we have to go, everyday! You are not alone, your Shepherd is leading you out into this world and He is going before you. Let Jesus lead you through this day. Hear His voice.

Let Him call you by name, and now go forth in this blessed, safe, awareness of the intimate fellowship, protection, and direction your Good Shepherd is offering. Hallelujah!
