About Being Led To The Quiet Waters

Today’s Word of Encouragement from Wayne:

“He leads me beside quiet waters”

Psalm 23:2

There are two important times, in the life of a sheep, when quiet waters are absolutely necessary in order to survive. The first is in drinking and the second is in crossing. In order for a sheep to drink, there must be quiet waters. Quiet waters are safe waters, waters of rest. The sheep can feel at ease enough to be able to drink. And so it is with us. “In quietness and trust is your strength” Isaiah 30:15. It is when we are at rest with Christ, "seated at the Lord’s feet, listening to His word" (Luke 10:39), that we are able to receive and be nourished by the living waters of our Lord.

Stirred up waters are unsafe for sheep, for they may stumble and be carried away. Stirred up waters are also unhealthy, for sediment rises, polluting the otherwise clear quiet waters. Our Good Shepherd, in love, always leads us "beside quiet waters." Sometimes, in the life of a sheep/Christian, there are streams that must be crossed and they may be dangerous. So it is a blessing to know that our Good Shepherd always finds the place where the quiet waters are, where it is safe to cross and where our Good Shepherd Personally guarantees our safety with His Own watchful Presence.

Our Lord Jesus Christ is the best Shepherd ever. Praise Him for His loving care and know Him in this way today. Hallelujah!
