A More Excellent Ministry

Today's Word of Encouragement from Wayne:

"For the law appoints men as high priests who are weak, but the word of the oath, which came after the law, appoints a Son, made perfect forever"

Hebrews 7:28

God’s "Son, made perfect forever," is our beloved Savior Jesus Christ. Jesus is both our risen "Lord" and "priest forever/High Priest," Fulfilling "the word of the oath" in Psalm 110 which says, "The Lord says to my Lord: ‘Sit at My right hand until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet’" (Verse 1) and "The Lord has sworn and will not change His mind, ‘You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizadek’" (Verse 4). The author of Hebrews continued in his next verse, writing, "Now the main point in what has been said is this: we have such a high priest, who has taken His seat at the right hand of the Majesty in the heavens" (Hebrews 8:1).

"The main point" is that Jesus Christ is our High Priest and Lord, right now, seated at the right hand of God, which also fulfills "the word of the oath" in Psalm 110, "Sit at My right hand." Going further, the writer of Hebrews stated, "But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, by as much as He is the mediator of a better covenant which has been enacted on better promises" (Hebrews 8:6).

Jesus, our risen Savior, is "Lord" and "High Priest" of His New Covenant which is "a better covenant which has been enacted on better promises." This is our "more excellent ministry." Avail yourself today of the "more excellent ministry" of the New Covenant. Avail yourself today of the knowledge of your living "Lord" Jesus Christ and learn of Him (Matthew 11:29) in His word. And Avail yourself today of time in the presence of God, where you minister to the Lord (Acts 13:2), to your great "High Priest" Jesus! Bless Him and thank Him for His "more excellent ministry."
