The Power Of An Indestructible Life
Today's Word of Encouragement from Wayne:
"The Lord has sworn and will not change His mind, ‘You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizadek.’"
Psalm 110:4
I have been sharing much with you these past few days concerning this wonderful prophetic word of our Savior, Jesus Christ, from Psalm 110. Today I would like to give you the author of Hebrews explanation of this verse, concerning HOW Jesus has become our High Priest. "Now if perfection was through the Levitical priesthood (for on the basis of it the people received the law), what further need was there for another priest to arise according to the order of Melchizadek, and not be designated according to the order of Aaron? For when the priesthood is changed, of necessity there takes place a change of law also.
"For the one concerning whom these things are spoken belongs to another tribe, from which no one has officiated at the altar. For it is evident that our Lord was descended from Judah, a tribe with reference to which Moses spoke nothing concerning priests. And this is clearer still, if another priest arises according to the likeness of Melchizadek, who has become such not on the basis of a law of physical requirement, but according to the power of an indestructible life. For it is attested of Him, ‘ You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizadek’" (Hebrews 7:11-16).
When our Savior was raised from the dead by Father God "through the blood of the eternal covenant" (Hebrews 13:20), Jesus became, in that moment, both King and High Priest "according to the power of an indestructible life." Our Lord is triumphant over death and He reigns forever! Jesus Christ has perfectly and completely fulfilled this word from Psalm 110:4 about being our "priest forever according to the order of Melchizadek." Jesus has also perfectly and completely fulfilled Psalm 100, verse 1, about Messiah being King, which says, "The Lord says to my Lord: ‘Sit at My right hand until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet." Jesus is Messiah, both King and High Priest, "according to the power of an indestructible life," because He lived perfectly in obedience to God, without sin, fulfilling the Old Covenant Law, shedding His New Covenant blood, and now being risen forever. Praise your King and High Priest today. Hallelujah!
