Today's Word of Encouragement from Wayne:

Come To The Resting Place

"You shall not do at all what we are doing here today, every man doing whatever is right in his own eyes; for you have not as yet come to the resting place and the inheritance which the Lord you God is giving you"

Deuteronomy 12: 8-9

God wanted, and still wants, all of His people to "come to the resting place and the inheritance which the Lord your God is giving you." In the Old Testament, God spoke this in reference to His people coming into the promised land (vs 10) and establishing God’s dwelling place in Jerusalem (vs 5-7). In the New Testament we, also, are not to be "every man doing what is right in his own eyes," for God’s will is that we would dwell in our promised land, attending to God’s resting place, experiencing the rest and inheritance that He is giving us. All of this directly points us to Jesus Christ, Who plainly spoke, "Come to Me... and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28).

The apostle Paul wrote of Jesus Christ that "In Him also we have obtained an inheritance" (Ephesians 1:11). This is God’s call for all of us to come into our Father’s presence, by faith, so we may truly receive, from Him, our full rest and our inheritance. If we want what God is giving us, What God is calling us to, let us come into His presence, as His priesthood, and receive. You and I are God’s tabernacle. Immanuel, "God with us," dwells within. Let us minister as a priest to our Abba Father in His presence, by the Holy Spirit, with Jesus Christ our High Priest. Here is where our fullness of joy thrives (Psalm 16:11). This is where we realize Jesus Christ as our rest, our inheritance, our dwelling place, and the place where we receive, from our God’s Own hand, all that He has given us in Christ our Savior.

"The resting place" of Deuteronomy had a twofold meaning. "To establish His name there for His dwelling, and there you shall come" (Deut. 12:5) meant that God’s people may rest at the place where God rests. This is our present reality with our God. We come to Jesus, Who rests in us, and He gives us rest. This is truly amazing, to understand that God looks at our priesthood as something that gives us both mutual rest and joy. God said it long ago, through Isaiah, "Heaven is My throne and the earth is My footstool. Where then is a house you could build for Me? And where is a place that I may rest? But to this one I will look, to him who is humble and contrite of spirit, and who trembles at my word" (Isaiah 66: 1-2).

Rest with God in His resting place today, which is in you, and continue to receive your full inheritance in Jesus Christ! Hallelujah!
