How To Cease Striving

Today's Word of Encouragement from Wayne:

"Cease striving and know that I am God"

Psalm 46:10

A few days ago we looked at the beginning of Psalm 46 which says, "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." Now, here in the closing section of this Psalm, we see "the way in," the affirmative faith response and recognition that God indeed is our refuge and strength. What do we do if we believe this? We cease our striving, in all our troubles, that’s what we do. Instead, we turn our full attention and devotion to the knowledge, the present moment knowing, with worship, that our Lord is God. He is God over us and in us, and He is certainly Lord over all that concerns us.

We do not need to strive. We do need to access our refuge and strength in God, so we may know Him and, in the knowing of Him, rest in Him, Jesus Christ our loving Lord over the whole of our life. All that concerns us does concern our God, Who desires very much for us to trust and believe Him first, far above all our situations. Today, I encourage you to cease all of your striving and, instead, "know that I am God." This is when you actually enter the safety zone of "our refuge and strength," your Lord Jesus Christ, Who dwells in you and therefore always is "a very present help in trouble." You just take care of knowing and loving your gracious Lord right now and let Him take care of every-and-all "trouble," while you rest in the Lord your refuge and are renewed in His strength. Hallelujah!
