Satisfied With God’s Goodness

Today's Word of Encouragement from Wayne:

"How blessed is the one whom You choose and bring near to You to dwell in Your courts. We will be satisfied with the goodness of Your house, Your holy temple"

Psalm 65: 4

God’s goodness is here right now to satisfy you. I believe David was already satisfied with the goodness of God’s house, through his years of ministering to the Lord, so it was easy for him to continue his confession, based upon his experience, "We will be satisfied with the goodness of Your house." In the 34th Psalm David had entreated people, writing "O taste and see that the Lord is good; how blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!" (Psalm 34: 8).

When David ministered to the Lord he experienced a deep satisfaction in God’s goodness, which is what made him want to abide even longer in His courts, well expressed in David’s words, "that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life" (Psalm 27: 4). You and I are blessed, through our priesthood, to experience this same, and even better, true satisfaction in God’s presence as we minister to Him. "The house of the Lord" now dwells in us - "all the days of [our] life," as we continue our spiritual sojourn here on earth. Then, in heaven, we will continue in God’s house forever and we will be forever satisfied in His goodness ("and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever" -David, Psalm 23: 6).

We "taste and see" God’s goodness best now when and while we dwell in His house, for it is while we are up close that we can more clearly sense God’s goodness radiating over us in a way that is immensely satisfying to our spirit, and even cascades outward ministering peace and rest to our mind and also to our body. O yes, beloved child of God, realize "how blessed" you are today, dwell in the courts of God with your Lord of life, and let your true self be "satisfied with the goodness of Your house." Hallelujah!
