See How Important Our Priesthood Is To God

Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne:

“Thus says the Lord, ‘If you can break My covenant for the day and My covenant for the night, so that day and night will not be at their appointed time, then My covenant may also be broken with David My servant so that he will not have a son to reign on his throne, and with the Levitical priests, My ministers’”

Jeremiah 33:20-21

There is an extremely important point made about our priesthood to God in this text and it is this – The priesthood is as important to God as kingship is. They are both mentioned together in this new covenant promise made to “David My servant.” God’s thoughts are higher than our thoughts (Isaiah 55:9) and in this declaration God clearly expresses His thoughts regarding a perpetual kingship and priesthood to Him.

We know our resurrected Savior, Jesus Christ, presently is both our King and our High Priest (Hebrews 6:17-10:39), and we also know scripture says of Jesus Christ, “You were slain, and purchased for God with Your blood men from every tribe and tongue and people and nation. You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God” (Revelation 5:9-10), meaning that we, the body of Christ, are God’s present day priesthood, actually and specifically purchased for God in Jesus’ Own blood so that we would be His kingdom and priests.

We are the servants of God in this day and it is incumbent upon us, as such, to receive, understand, yield to, and ultimately become a joyful expression of our selves as God’s new covenant priesthood, in His presence and to His church as “My ministers.”

To me, this is about straight forward, God honoring, obedience to the long prophesied and now fulfilled new covenant of Jesus Christ, in which we have received salvation and abundant, eternal life. We are God’s present day priests and look at how important the priesthood is to our Father God.

Here’s the situation I have faced, in the body of Christ, all my Christian life, regarding ministering to the Lord and our priesthood. Every time a person receives this awesome truth of our priesthood identity and enters in, it is all joy and abundance and closeness with Christ. However most people seem to immediately discount the priesthood and distance themselves from it, usually by saying something like, “well, I already praise God.” This is a classic and tragic case of people making their thoughts, and rationale, higher than God’s thoughts on this hugely important subject.

To me there is really nothing to discuss. This is clearly important to God. We need to all get on the same page with God about what God truly and precisely says He wants from us, and priesthood should be a beginning point, not an obscure point, for every honestly “purchased for God with Your blood” believer.

So, brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ, let us taste and see how good our Lord is in our priesthood, and let us become God’s priesthood, and let us fill His church with His priesthood. My personal belief is simply this – when we truly yield in real time to God’s new covenant in Jesus Christ, recognizing Christ as our living, reigning King and Head of the body of Christ, and ourselves as His dedicated priesthood , then I believe the glory and anointing will spring forth that comes from God when His body is fully and rightly engaged with His truth. Hallelujah!
