Obeying The Source Of Our Eternal Salvation– Christ Our High Priest

Today’s Word of Encouragement from Wayne:

"Christ did not glorify Himself so as to become a high priest, but He who said to Him, ‘You are My Son, today I have begotten You’; just as He says also in another passage, ‘You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizadek.’ Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from the things that He suffered. And having been made perfect, He became to all those who obey Him the source of eternal salvation, being designated by God as a high priest according to the order of Melchizadek"

Hebrews 5:5-6,8-10, Psalm 110:4

Praise God, Jesus Christ, our risen High Priest is, Himself, “the source of eternal salvation” - "to all those who obey Him." Jesus, Himself, willingly “learned obedience from the things that He suffered” on our behalf, and as a result, He is now “perfect” and our “source of eternal salvation” - "to those who obey Him." Obeying Jesus is a specific – to Christ – biblical obedience. This is a whole lot more focused than just saying, “now that I am a Christian what am I supposed to do” in terms of obedience. Obeying “Him” is specific to Jesus Himself.

Obeying “Him” is our constant following Jesus, learning of Jesus, being in the “yoke” with Jesus (Matthew 11:29), and learning of all things with the greater awareness being on Who He, Himself, is right now and our direct response to Him. Just as a painfully clear example, how many people currently talk big about obedience to the Bible while simultaneously expressing nothing (and apparently knowing nothing) concerning Christ our High Priest and His New Covenant.

True obedience, in this passage from Hebrews, is our obeying "Him," for He, Himself, is our Lord, our High Priest, and our "source of eternal salvation." True biblical obedience is ALWAYS Christ centered, in real time, devotion, and yieldedness. True biblical obedience always WANTS TO KNOW ALL that Christ has accomplished and ALL that our Lord has become. True biblical obedience honors "the New Covenant in My blood," as our Savior said on the eve of His crucifixion (Luke 22:20).

True biblical obedience does not fall short of Jesus, or ignore Jesus. True biblical obedience is Jesus. Jesus obeyed God for us. Let us obey God for Jesus, that we may know Him truly and fully, that we may "obey Him the source of eternal salvation."

Yes today, stay close to the "source of eternal salvation." Bless His holy Name. Hallelujah!
