Ministering To The Lord Is Being “A Man After My Heart”

Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne: “Your kingdom shall not endure. The Lord has sought out for Himself a man after His own heart, and the Lord has appointed him as ruler over His people” 1 Samuel 13:14 These were the words of the Lord through Samuel, now a grown man, to king Saul, who had “not kept the commandment of the Lord your God” (1 Samuel 13:13). David was the one whom God had found, “a man after His own heart,”who would soon be anointed king by Samuel (1 Samuel 16:4-13). The apostle Paul, on his first missionary journey, commented upon this Scripture from 1st Samuel, when he preached the gospel at Pisidian Antioch, saying, “He raised up David to be their king, concerning whom

I Will Praise The Lord While I Live - Part 8

Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne: “Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord, o my soul! I will praise the Lord while I live; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being” Psalm 146:1-2 Hallelujah, beloved of God, I pray your inner most being is responding well to this insight into a dedicated life of praise, “while I have my being,” with all of the protection and blessings that follow. Finally, today, let us see how Psalm 146 concludes with, "The Lord protects the strangers; He supports the fatherless and the widow; but He thwarts the way of the wicked. The Lord will reign forever. Thy God, O Zion, to all generations. Praise the Lord!" (Ps. 146: 9-10). First, please notice that this P

I Will Praise The Lord While I Live - Part 7

Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne: “Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord, o my soul! I will praise the Lord while I live; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being. The Lord opens the eyes of the blind; the Lord raises up those who are bowed down; the Lord loves the righteous” Psalm 146:1-2,8 And now, as we progress through this beautiful psalm, the tenor of this eighth verse tilts towards Isaiah's words about Messiah, from chapter 61:1, which Jesus quoted, referring to Himself, when He began His public ministry. The psalmist wrote, “The Lord opens the eyes of the blind; the Lord raises up those who are bowed down; the Lord loves the righteous.” (Ps. 146:8) Jesus said, quoting I

I Will Praise The Lord  While I Live - Part 6

Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne: “Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord, o my soul! I will praise the Lord while I live; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being. How blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God; Who made heaven and earth, the sea and all that is in them; Who keeps faith forever. Who executes justice for the oppressed; Who gives food to the hungry. The Lord sets the prisoners free” Psalm 146:1-2, 5-7 Let us continue beholding “how blessed” we are in our dedication to a life of perpetual praise unto our Lord God.. “How blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God; Who made heaven and earth, t

I Will Praise The Lord While I Live - Part 5

Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne: “Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord, o my soul! I will praise the Lord while I live; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being” Psalm 146:1-2 Let us cultivate our hearts in and towards our Lord, the One Whom we are in constant fellowship with as we “sing praises” to our God “while I have my being,” which means all of the time, for the rest of our lives. Thank God, we absolutely can and must cultivate our hearts in our Lord. This is our perfect right, our birth-right in fact in Christ, and it is a wonderful gift. So, for a moment, think about how your heart is like a garden. There may be all kinds of things going on in your heart as of right n

I Will Praise The Lord While I Live - Part 4

Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne: “Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord, o my soul! I will praise the Lord while I live; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being” Psalm 146:1-2 Let’s us now continue through this beautiful Psalm, so we may begin to see how our declared life of praise to our God positively influences all of the issues we deal with in life “Do not trust in princes, in mortal man, in whom there is no salvation. His spirit departs, he returns to the earth; in that very day his thoughts perish” (Ps. 146: 3-4). Right away we are exhorted to “not trust in princes.” This means men of power, “In mortal man, in whom there is no salvation.” No one with power in this world

I Will Praise The Lord While I Live - Part 3

Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne: “Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord, O my soul!” Psalm 146:1 I love this. Do you know what this feels like to me? Picture going outside to mow the lawn, if you have a lawnmower that has one of those pull cords to get it started. “Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord, O my soul" is like pulling the cord to get your soul started. “Okay, soul, let’s get praising here!” And that’s what we need to do. We cannot wait for our own soul to feel like it. Sometimes it’s almost as if we’re shaking our soul, “Wake up, priest unto God! Wake up and praise the Lord! Praise the Lord, O my soul!” And that’s how this Psalm begins. It’s a good way to start. “Praise the Lord.

I Will Praise The Lord While I Live - Part 2

Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne: “I will praise the Lord while I live; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being” Psalm 146:2 I love this verse. It is such a simple, yet ultimate and full declaration. I look at this verse as declaring what we see our chief aim in life to be: “I will praise the Lord while I live.” What are you going to do with your life? Well, there are all kinds of answers... do we mean financially? Do we mean with all the people that we get to know? What am I going to do with my life? I'll tell you what I’m going to do with my life: “I will praise the Lord while I live; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.” The day that we were born again,

I Will Praise The Lord While I Live

Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne: “I will praise the Lord while I live; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being” Psalm 146:2 Father in Heaven, we bless You and praise You in this day. We enter Your gates with thanksgiving and Your courts with praise. We’re so delighted to be able to worship You from our hearts in gratitude for all that You have given us in Jesus’ name. We desire to lift You up, to magnify You in this day, that we might be renewed in Your presence, that we might be drawn to know You. May we all be empowered to cast our cares upon You, seeing the greater truth that You care for us. Hallelujah. We bless You and we thank You for this time of fellowship now in

Be As Present With God As He is With Us “That I Might Dwell Among Them”

Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne: “I will also consecrate Aaron and his sons to minister as priests to Me. I will dwell among the sons of Israel and will be their God. They shall know that I am the Lord their God who brought them out of the land of Egypt, that I might dwell among them; I am the Lord their God” Exodus 29:44-46 God came to dwell among His people and it was through those who would “minister as priests to Me” that God meant for His people to know His dwelling presence among them. It is clear from this passage that this is exactly what God intended for His people to know, His actual dwelling presence among them, and He saw consecrated priests ministering to Him as a witne

God's Joy Is Within Us

Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne: “This day is holy to our Lord. Do not be grieved, for the joy of the Lord is your strength” Nehemiah 8:10 Joy is not a luxury in the Christian life. No, joy is a necessity of the Christian life. I am not talking about the joy that we sometimes feel over events, people or possessions, for that can be a temporary and fleeting joy. What I am speaking about is the joy of the Lord. It’s God’s joy, steadfast joy, the joy of God in us - and it is through our reception and understanding of His Own joy within us that continuous strength is supplied to us. Today is a holy day to the Lord. Praise God! For us, as His children, every day is a holy day to God. So,

He Must Increase

Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne: “So this joy of mine has been made full. He must increase, but I must decrease.” John 3:29-30 John the Baptist’s response to standing and hearing the voice of Jesus, his friend, “the bridegroom’s voice” as he put it, was beautifully expressed in His words. “So this joy of mine has been made full.” Yes, praise God, each of us have been graciously granted this exact same full joy in our Savior and, when we do take the time to listen to the voice of Jesus as our Bridegroom and Friend, joy is always the result. But it is what John said next that was so crucial, because this was about how we may effectively cherish and protect, for our own benefit, this t

Hearing & Rejoicing In Our Bridegroom’s Voice

Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne: “The friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly because of the bridegroom’s voice. So this joy of mine has been made full” John 3:29 These words from John the Baptist show us how we may have our own joy made full, and maintained at full level. Jesus is our Bridegroom and we have been wed in an eternal friendship to Him. This was John’s understanding. Because of this revelation, of eternal union and friendship with Christ, John was glad to stand and hear the bridegroom’s voice and this, he declared, was what made his own personal joy full. When you and I approach our Savior with this same understanding, that we are betrothed

The Sweet Aroma Of The Knowledge of Him In Every Place

Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne: “Thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and manifests through us the sweet aroma of the knowledge of Him in every place” 2 Corinthians 2:14 When you and I are following Jesus Christ, with our spiritual eyes fully open and fixed upon Him, then we know we are actually being led in “triumph in Christ.” Following the leading of our Lord, truly, is our acquiescing in discipleship to solidly being led in triumph in Jesus Christ. Following Jesus is following in the footsteps of triumph, because our risen Savior is triumphant. Praise your Lord God today “Who always leads us in triumph in Christ.” Begin this new ascending path of triumph

We Are The Temple Of The Living God

Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne: “We are the temple of the living God; just as God said, ‘I will dwell in them and walk among them.’” 2 Corinthians 6:16 You and I are vessels of God’s presence. We are blessed to allow everything within us, as His temple, to praise and worship Him. He is dwelling in us right now, stirring us up by His Spirit to worship Him so that, in this state of holy worship, we are graced to become more and more aware that He is walking with us even as He dwells within us. We are God’s portable temples, bringing His presence out to this world even as He fills us with His Own glory. Be a living temple today for the living God Who lives in you! Hallelujah!

At Rest In Jesus’ Peace Within

Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne: “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful” John 14:27 Jesus leaves His peace with us and He gives His peace to us. Let us make sure we are receiving and realizing His peace today. We need the peace that Jesus offers and lovingly supplies to us. This world does not give us peace, nor can it. Peace in this world can never be more than the temporary absence of conflict. The peace that Jesus gives us and leaves with us is His Own Presence. Peace in this world, if ever, is only temporary. The peace of Jesus Christ, within us, is permanent and forever.

Our Safety Zone

Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne: “Cease striving and know that I am God” Psalm 46:10 We recently looked at the beginning of Psalm 46 which says, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Now, here in the closing section of this Psalm, we see “the way in,” the affirmative faith response and recognition that God indeed is our refuge and strength. What do we do if we believe this? We cease our striving, in all our troubles, that’s what we do. Instead, we turn our full attention and devotion to the knowledge, the present moment knowing, with worship, that our Lord is God. He is God over us and in us, and He is certainly Lord over all that concerns us. We do not n

The Knowledge Of Every Good Thing Within You

Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne: “I pray that the fellowship of your faith may become effective through the knowledge of every good thing which is in you for Christ’s sake” Philemon Vs.6 Would you like to have more effective fellowship today, with the Lord and with others? Then start seeing and knowing every good thing that God has placed in you. Doesn’t this make great sense; that the more we see good things in us (gifts from God’s Own goodness) the more effective, joyful, intimate, and full of divine life our fellowship with our Lord and with others will be? Recognizing and knowing “every good thing” within us, all because of Jesus’ grace and all for His sake, is definitely the pa

The Peace Of Christ Rules... In Our Hearts

Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne: “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful” Colossians 3:15 Here is God’s will for you today - let the peace of Christ rule in your heart and be thankful. God’s peace is His presence with you. Let the presence of Jesus Christ within you rule in your heart. Amen. And thank God that this is so. Thank Jesus for His peace for, as Paul wrote to the Ephesians, “He Himself is our peace” (2:14). The more you thank God for His peace, the more His peace arises in your mind and, therefore, the more you become aware of the peace of Christ ruling in your heart. This is intended to be a beautiful circ

Resting In Your Refuge

Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne: “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear” Psalm 46:1 Whenever trouble comes, run to your refuge first, for this is where you will always find your strength. Your strength is in the Lord your refuge, for it is in Him that you are able to see and receive His “very present help” to lead you, without fear, through every step of this life. Trouble or not, God is always our refuge and strength, so I encourage you to think of Him in this way consistently because, if ever the day of trouble does come, you will already be where you need to be, with the Lord your “refuge and strength.” Accept this truth, that
