In The Secret Place Of Your Presence

Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne: “You hide them in the secret place of Your presence from the conspiracies of man; You keep them secretly in a shelter from the strife of tongues” Psalm 31:20 O the great favor and privilege our God gives us, to minister to Him “in the secret place of Your presence.” Here is one more blessed reason why our Lord Jesus wants us to be alive and active as His kingdom of priests, ministering in His presence, because God is able to purify us and keep us pure as we abide with Him “in the secret place of Your presence.” When we are not “in the secret place of Your presence” we are constantly being bombarded with “the conspiracies of man” and “the strife of

You Are My Hiding Place

Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne: “You are my hiding place; You preserve me from trouble; You surround me with songs of deliverance” Psalm 32:7 God is our hiding place. When we enter the inner court, our inner room, to worship our “Father Who is in secret” (Matthew 6:6), we are in our hiding place. This is where we praise God and minister to Him in His presence and this is where He protects us, strengthens us, and surrounds us “with songs of deliverance.” In fact, God preserves us from trouble when we are in our hiding place with Him. We have seen many times where David expressed His desire, saying “I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the Lord” (Psalm 27: 6). Now in this verse,

O The Riches Of Taking Refuge “In The Shadow Of Your Wings”

Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne: “How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God! And the children of men take refuge in the shadow of Your wings. They drink their fill of the abundance of Your house; and You give them to drink of the river of Your delights. For with You is the fountain of life; in Your light we see light” Psalm 36:7-9 Once again we see David’s reference to “the shadow of Your wings” as being beautifully and tenderly descriptive of his understanding about his own personal and intimate spiritual tabernacle of fellowship with God. In this day, when you and I minister to our Lord in His presence, we are actually taking refuge “in the shadow of Your wings.” It is in this pl

In The Shelter Of Your Wings

Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne: “Lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For You have been a refuge for me, a tower of strength against the enemy. Let me dwell in Your tent forever; let me take refuge in the shelter of Your wings” Psalm 61:2-4 All of these great truths that David declared of God, in the Spirit, are also true for us, right now, in our God, in His Spirit. When David wrote of dwelling in God’s tent forever, He was describing his own spiritual state of continual fellowship with God. David wasn’t literally dwelling in an actual tent forever, with a giant rock inside of it. David spoke in the spirit about the tent of God, as being the temple of God, of His presence, w

How We Strengthen Ourselves In The Lord Our God - Part 4 (In The Night)

Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne: “When I remember You on my bed, I meditate on You in the night watches, for You have been my help, and in the shadow of Your wings I sing for joy. My soul clings to You” Psalm 63:6-8 O bless the Lord that we are so privileged and equipped, by God’s Holy Spirit to strengthen ourselves in Him, in the Lord our God, in the evening, and as we retire for the night, and in any “night watches” we may have, by remembering and meditating upon the presence and the help of our God. “In the shadow of Your wings” was a favorite expression of David’s, representing the complete safety and protection he felt under the caring, protective, and loving wings of God. “In

How We Strengthen Ourselves In The Lord Our God - Part 3 (In The Morning)

Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne: “But as for me, I shall sing of Your strength; yes, I shall joyfully sing of your lovingkindness in the morning, for You have been my stronghold and a refuge in the day of distress” Psalm 59:16 If you want to know and to grow in the knowledge of God as your stronghold, then learn to bless and confess His lovingkindness and strength in the morning, as soon as you awaken. Establish Who your strength is right away, every day. “Joyfully sing” of His lovingkindness in the morning, which strengthens you in the Lord your God, and you will be less likely to be overwhelmed or fall apart “in the day of distress.” I encourage you to strongly, pro-actively, take

How We Strengthen Ourselves In The Lord Our God - Part 2

Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne: “O my strength, I will sing praises to You; for God is my stronghold, the God who shows me lovingkindness” Psalm 59:17 Beloved child of God, sing praises to God “O my strength” and you will be strengthening yourself in the Lord! Once we have entered the presence of our Lord, as priests to minister to our God, which always strengthens us in our identity in Christ, we are then further strengthened as we praise our God for Who He is (“my stronghold”) and for what He has done (“who shows me lovingkindness”). This is always the heart, the essence, and substance, of our praise. We worship God for Who He is and for what He has done. Count your blessings bef

How We Strengthen Ourselves In The Lord Our God - Part 1

Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne: “David strengthened himself in the Lord his God” 1 Samuel 30:6 So, how exactly do we strengthen ourselves in the Lord our God? I believe there are many ways. First and foremost though is that when we enter a time of ministering to the Lord, there is a specific focus and understanding which we possess, regarding our identity as priests unto God. We accept and realize that Jesus Christ “has made us to be a kingdom, priests to His God and Father” (Revelation 1:6). Yes, we have become God’s Own “royal priesthood” (1 Peter 2:9) in this day. So, when we enter our “inner court” which, according to the pattern in the Old Testament, was next to the “Holy of H

Strengthening Yourself In The Lord Your God

Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne: “David strengthened himself in the Lord his God” 1 Samuel 30:6 The people had turned against David, as a result of the enemy coming in and kidnapping their loved ones, all blaming David for their misfortune. Scripture says, “Moreover David was greatly distressed because the people spoke of stoning him, for all the people were embittered each one because of his sons and daughters. But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God.” This verse does not say that the Lord strengthened David but that “David strengthened himself in the Lord.” The Bible does not say David prayed, “O Lord strengthen me please,” but Scripture does say, “David strengthened hi

Strengthening Ourselves In The Lord Our God

Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne: “David was greatly distressed because the people spoke of stoning him, for all the people were embittered, each one because of his sons and daughters. But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God” 1 Samuel 30:6 The enemy had come in with a force, while David and his men were away, “and they took captive the women and all who were in it, both small and great, without killing anyone, and carried them off and went their way” (1 Samuel 30:2). David became the person that everyone started blaming for this terrible loss. What was David to do? Did he contend with the people, or try to work something out, or did he run away from it all? No. “But David

Our Song Of Victory In God’s Presence

Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne: “And now my head will be lifted up above my enemies around me. And I will offer in His tent sacrifices with shouts of joy; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the Lord” Psalm 27:6 In verse four of this Psalm, David was in God’s presence, beholding the beauty of the Lord and meditating in His temple. In verse five David was in a “day of trouble” and experienced God’s presence as being an ark of safety, hidden away in a secret place with God, and being lifted up on a rock. Now, in verse six, this progression continues with David in God’s presence being “lifted up above my enemies” in victory, and so he is singing praises. All of these blessed trut

A Secret Place In The Day Of Trouble

Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne: “For in the day of trouble He will conceal me in His tabernacle; in the secret place of His tent He will hide me; He will lift me up on a rock” Psalm 27:5 David had personally learned, and here confessed, that ministering to the Lord, beholding the beauty of the Lord, in the presence of God, provided strength and protection for him “in the day of trouble.” This is exactly what David meant when he wrote, “to behold the beauty of the Lord and to meditate in His temple. For in the day of trouble He will conceal me.” Amen. As children and priests of our God, we are blessed to minister to our Lord and to learn the beauty of His presence that keeps drawing

To Behold The Beauty Of The Lord - Part 3

Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne: “One thing I have asked from the Lord, that I shall seek; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord and to meditate in His temple” Psalm 27:4 How does ministering to the Lord enable us to see the beauty of the Lord? It is because, as David had earlier written, “In Your presence is fullness of joy” (Psalm 16:11), Who’s joy we receive when ministering to our Lord, for we are praising God exclusively for Who He is and what He has done, and this is all beautiful. God is beautiful and what He has done is beautiful. When we minister to the Lord we are allowing ourselves to be surrounded exclusively

To Behold The Beauty Of The Lord - Part 2 - Seeing The Beauty Of Jesus Our High Priest

Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne “One thing I have asked from the Lord, that I shall seek; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord and to meditate in His temple” Psalm 27:4 Yesterday I shared how ministering to the Lord truly softens our hearts, particularly because of the blessing of our continual beholding the beauty of the Lord in His presence. Going hand in hand with our hearts being softened in God’s presence as we behold His beauty, is that Jesus Christ, our High Priest, is with us as well as we minister as priests unto God. For Scripture declares of our Savior that “He always lives to make intercession for them. For i

To Behold The Beauty Of The Lord - Part 1

Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne: “One thing I have asked from the Lord, that I shall seek; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord and to meditate in His temple” Psalm 27:4 The practice of ministering to the Lord is a always heart softener and “to behold the beauty of the Lord” is the reason why. We all behold something, all the time, every day. As for me, I will minister to my Lord so I may “behold the beauty of the Lord.” You know, we do become what we behold, and out of the abundance of the heart our mouth speaks. So, let us behold the beauty of our Lord, in the presence of God, as we minister as priests before Him, so w

One Thing I Have Asked From The Lord

Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne: “One thing I have asked from the Lord, that I shall seek; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord and to meditate in His temple” Psalm 27:4 This “one thing” that David asked from the Lord, which is now our blessed reality as priests of God, reminds me of the apostle Paul’s words in the New Testament, from His letter to the church at Philippi, when he wrote,“ I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord,” further stating his desire “that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings” (Philippians 3:8,10)

That I May Dwell In The House Of The Lord All The Days Of My Life

Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne: “One thing I have asked from the Lord, that I shall seek; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord and to meditate in His temple” Psalm 27:4 These are the words of someone who knew the blessed truth and reality of ministering to the Lord. There was just one thing David was asking of the Lord, and he sought after that one thing. David’s one desire was to “dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life.” You and I have the house of the Lord within us now, so we may, by the grace of God and through the blood of Jesus Christ, live “all the days” of our lives in God’s presence, as minister

Our Priestly Inheritance in Jesus Christ

Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne: “The Lord is the portion of my inheritance and my cup” Psalm 16:5 In this verse, from this beautiful 16th Psalm, David revealed that he had the true and simple heart of a priest unto God. The Lord had spoken to Aaron, concerning the priestly tribe of Levi, saying, “You shall have no inheritance in their land nor own any portion among them; I am your portion and your inheritance” (Numbers 18:20). In the book of Joshua it is recorded, “But to the tribe of Levi, Moses did not give an inheritance; the Lord, the God of Israel, is their inheritance, as He had promised to them” (Joshua 13:33). Later on in the Old Testament, God spoke this same blessed truth

Our Path Of Life In God’s Presence

Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne: “You will make known to me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; in Your right hand there are pleasures forever” Psalm 16:11 Praise God. “The path of life,” it seemed for David, was the path that led him into “Your presence,” for it was in God’s presence that David’s “fullness of joy” dwelt. David knew there were “pleasures forever” awaiting him, at God’s right hand, as he ministered to His Lord. “The path of life” for us, today, in Jesus Christ is the exact same; the path that leads us into God’s presence where our own “fullness of joy” resides and where we experience “pleasures forever” in ministering to our God as His present day

Ministering To The Lord Is God’s Prescription Of Well Being For You

Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne: “I have set the Lord continually before me; because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad and my glory rejoices; my flesh also will dwell securely” Psalm 16:8-9 Benefit after benefit flowed from the pen of David as He wrote about his life and understanding of ministering to the Lord. We have seen, in our past two devotions, that David was blessed to behold God in the morning and in the evening. You can’t escape the obvious evidence that David’s heart’s desire was to “set the Lord continually before me.” And because of this, because David ministered regularly to God before His presence, he realized in his own life wh
